Which ship am I on?

Hey guys,

I'm sure this is a question asked often, but my car was "on the water" as of the 9/25. My CA doesn't have VIN yet. He also isn't sure which boat it's on so I'm trying to do what I can to see where it is. All I have is my production number.

The excitement is killing me!

If your car is already built, you should have a VIN. Call BMW Genius with your production number to find out not only your VIN but also which vessel it's on.

I just tried calling but they're only open Monday - Saturday. I'll have to call back tomorrow and see what they say!

Tracking my build on BMWUSA it says "En Route to the U.S.".

Your CA is apparently completely inept. All they have to do is look in dealerspeed and they can see EVERYTHING. In fact, it's the exact same thing BMW Genius uses when you call (dealerspeed). So your CA is either really dumb or just really lazy.

Your VIN is in the system and created the day your car STARTS production.

He's a good guy and is the "M Specialist". I'll just call the BMW Genius number tomorrow and get that info myself.

Thanks for the heads up! Maybe I'll fill him in for future orders.

I just can't fathom then how he wouldn't know about dealerspeed. It's the car system all BMW dealerships use to enter/track orders, etc. My CA sent me screenshots showing my car's status in dealerspeed almost every time there was an update.

Here is an example. And looking at this screenshot has to make you wonder how he could miss details like the boat name etc.

From what he's mentioned, he's never known how to track it via ship or ETA on when it will be here to VPC.

I'm going to dig around a bit tomorrow.

You are very likely to be on one of the boats we are tracking in that sept build thread. We'll be happy to help you track your car once you get the info from BMW Genius.

Also notice my screenshot above has the ETA for VPC in it. My boat is over halfway here (the integrity). Should arrive in baltimore on 10/1 or so.

OMG he does not know your VIN... Please talk to manager. He's not been honest with you. They can track the car all the way even went the car is release to the truck company delivering the car to the dealer. Mine update me any change as necessary. He told me exactly went the car was going to arrive. I want it to see the car coming out the truck. Plus that what they get pay for. Some CA stop servicing once the complete the sale or know that the vehicle is sold.

As mentioned by others.. if its on a boat, he/she should have the VIN number and what boat its on available in the system. Its odd that your CA doesn't.

My CA provided me with VIN the day it went into production. The day the vessel left, he also provided me with the vessel details and an ETA.

I'll be calling the Geniuses in about 10 minutes when they open so I can get my info. Then I will call my CA and inform him how to do it for future customers.

In all honesty, this is my first new car purchase. Knowing that others get updates every single step of the way and I'm here left in the dark is quite disappointing.

Just got off the phone with the BMW Genius rep "Vince".

He was extremely helpful. Provided me with my full VIN and the name of the vessel. I don't see anyone else on that ship listed in the first post.

He said the following:

Ship: Brasilia Highway
Left Port: 9/24/15
Arrive Georgia: 10/7/15

I'm being honest here, your CA knows how to look stuff up already. He just didn't want to bother doing it. Brand new BMW sales people know how to look these things up probably after the 2nd day of working there.
