help with airbag light

my driver window makes a creaking noise when i operate it. so i decided to take the door panel off to lubricate it. i disconnected the wire that connects the metal cased module (airbag related?, part screwed to door) to the other metal cased piece that is screwed to the door panel. then after i had it all reassembled the control message "driver airbag malfunction" warning is on. today i went back to check the connections and everything seems ok. what steps do i need to take to have the warning turn off.
