6MT Owners: Transmission Fluid Changed?
I know what the car manual says, and what most dealers have been doing (it seems). So, did your dealer change the MT fluid?
If not, did you have them do it (either for free or on your own dime)? |

No, and no. I do plan on having it done at the 5k oil change, since I'll be paying out of pocket for that one.

It was $180, I believe. From my perspective, changing the fluid is mandatory given the owner's manual recommendation, and due to wear-in. There will be significant metal in the fluid...there is likely a filtration system, but better to have fresh fluid. I track my car regularly, so it was a no-brainer.

I am leaning towards paying out of pocket if the dealership won't change it at the 1200 mile service.

Six people above already said no. Are you looking for someone to say Yes?

Why not press w/BMW? Look for the previous thread on the subject that was started. Several forum members have gotten their 6MT fluid changed at no cost. Others haven't. I didn't have any luck and it wasn't worth my time to keep chasing it for $180.

Might do it at my intermediate 7500 oil change if I get all worked up by then.

Hey everyone, I'm at my dealer right now and my SA came into the lobby and told me that the 6mt fluid was to be changed. He said there is a lot of confusion out there in regards to the manual and how certain dealers treat the 1200 mi service.
The DCT gets no change all manuals are supposed to. Foreman has a manual 6mt M3 and I have a 6MT M4, super knowledgeable and apparently received clarification recently from BMW. Hope this helps some of you with the desire to have it changed for safety. It will probably fuel the debate further. |
