New 1M Owner
Just got my first 1M yesterday!
It's a one owner, Valencia Orange, with 16k miles. This is BMW #7 for me. Last two were an E90 M3 and a supercharged E36 M3. Obviously this 1M is the best of all of them. I fell in love after the first few minutes of driving it. Looking forward to contributing to the board here and having access to all of the great information. Cheers! Thanks! It was actually a car from the owner's collection. Definitely got some TLC and has some nice Bridgestone RE-11s on it.
It has a clear bra, but how bad should I expect rock chips to get? It might be the most vulnerable looking M I've owned to date! |

Clean! Welcome!
It must have clear bra on the rear fender flares also, they look perfect! |

from my experience it is a magnet for rock chips and it doesn't help that the paint is soft. I have a clear bra covering roughly 45% of the bonnet and I still managed to get rock chips right where the bra ends. If I had to do it over again i'd cover the entire bonnet.

welcome!!!!
Sounds like you are going to be modding it a little then!!! looks lovely, i plannde to stay as oe as possible but as u can see from the signature below i have got a bit carried away optimising it but still retaining a virtually oe look. the next step after that is a brave and expensive one which i have gone through with my skyline but its all good fun!!!
Everyone on here are really helpful!!! way less clicky than the gtroc !!!

oh and
definitely protect those rear arches as they love to chip on the forward facing rear arch bulge i guess from the front tyres shooting stones at it when on any lock

Nice!
Congrats! I'm in Colorado too. Pretty sure that car was previously owned by the owner of CO's BMW. Like the performance bits. Let me know if you want to meet up for a drive! -Dave

Congrats on your new baby....
Best mod investment i've made was Xpel Ultimate on entire hood, entire front bumper, both front fenders, entire side skirts, 6" on the front edge of roof, both A pillars, over both rear arches, both rock kickup area behind rear wheels, and luggage shelf of rear bumper. Total cost for film and install was about $1500 but car looks brand new and has 23,000 miles, most at high speed on the autobahn.....where even small sand particles can have a devastating effect on that gorgeous VO paint.... Any future car i own that I really want to keep long term will have clear bra+ put on it.

Do it for sure. My VO came w/ Xpel, however, plan to get redone w/ 3M at Auto Paint Guard of Tampa. He's the best in the biz. Would hook you up if you were local.
Recommend the hood, bumper obviously, A pillars and at least 1/3 of the roof. Fenders front and rear. Make sure if you do it that the company that installs wraps the edges around so it looks invisible.
