Boot hook

Does anyone know whether this is a hook? It is so poorly made in my view that i am not sure it is a hook for a bag or similar. Maybe just to keep a bag in place like on my picture but it is certainly too weak to hold any bag that has any weight. It is also incredibly flimsy to use...

It looks like it's a clip to hold the boot floor panel up when accessing the area below.

You sir just solved my problem of shopping bags spreading around the boot! Thank you will never be enough but when I rule the universe you will have a permission to drive on the left lane.

Tell me about it! This hook will save me from future tomato related crises better than the last tried "I will drive home slowly" plan. Those little buggers get everywhere!

That is the latch to hold up the floor panel in the trunk (boot). It is NOT a grocery bag hook. Use it for that and it will eventually break as it is not nearly sturdy enough. The E9x had a similar latch, but you had to engage it manually. This latch is designed so that when you press the floor panel up into it it will engage automatically.

My solution to grocery bags in the trunk of my wife's 335is Coupe was to buy a pair of Audi/VW grocery bag hooks. I think that I bought them from ECS Tuning:

The hook has a spring and folds up when not in use. The fabric loop is used to pull it down for use:

Here's a closeup that also shows the trunk floor panel latch on the E92:

Here's the link to the hooks at ECS Tuning:

http://www.ecstuning.com/Volkswagen-..._Hooks/ES6659/

But since you're willing to "pay very much" for them, I'll make you a deal. I'll buy them for $16.95 each plus S&H and resell them to you for $50 each!

Note that they need to be screwed into sheet metal at the top opening of the trunk and you will have to drill a small pilot hole for the self tapping screws. I didn't use the speednuts. I was able to do this on the E9x but since I don't yet have my M4 (May 2016) I don't know whether there is a suitable sheet metal there. Proceed with caution!

They were awkward to install on the E92. I ended up putting down the back seats and laying in the trunk so that I could see what I was doing. Be sure to wear safety glasses so you don't get any metal fragments in your eyes while drilling! A hassle to install, but well worth it. My wife uses the hooks all the time.

The hook comes with 2 screws and 2 speednuts. Now that I think about it, I used my own self-tapping screws that I found in my "loose screws" bin.

Lol that's not a bad markup!

4 gallons of milk every other day crushes everything else in the trunk. Thank you for this tip and I assure you I will not be installing these, or anything else ever again. I have a lot of people who can do things right around me so I will make one of them handle this. I'd probably end up drilling through the damn boot if I even tried.

Here's another solution that won't require any drilling or installation. We bought it at a car show in the vendor area, but they have a website, www.trunkorganizer.com. The one that we have is the 6-way Folding Trunk Organizer, currently sells for $25.95. Extremely useful and versatile! (Note the 2 gallons of milk on the right side!)

Middle dividers folded down:

From the manufacturer's website:

Lol, I don't need insulation, I did the math, with dinan if I only mildly work the numbers my way (go under speed limits in the first calculation and take a longer route and go through school zones) I can save the price of the tuning in less than 200 years because energy needed to get the milk temperature back down will not show up in my electric bill.

That kind of answers also to the question should one stop drinking coffee and sleep more.

Could maybe just use industrial strength velcro, or some strong double sided tape. I hate drilling the sheet metal, even if it is neat and clean.
