Downpipes and stock exhaust

Anyone can comment on the sound of stock exhaust with catless Downpipes? Is it closer to stock or closer to a add on exhaust. If it sounds much better than stock and gets 15-20 hp at less cost it seems like a win.

Its closer to the stock exhaust, but a little louder with more bass. I have the ER downpipes and they sound pretty good at WOT and tolerable with no drone at highway speeds.

No drone, just a bit more volume and a more natural exhaust note. more crackles and pops. Sounds perfect IMO.

Do it! maybe get some sort of valve control incase its a touch to loud for you all the time. Thats the best way to go about it with DPs IMO. I would love to hear a video of one of your rides, talking about those of you who posted above that have the DPs with stock exhaust.

I understand they are not "legal" in all states but is there any concern for the car or warranty. I'm not a global warming kind of guy.

I've been meaning to ask the people worried about emissions. Do you guys have to do some check every year? I thought here [CALI] was the worst for emissions but we only have to do smog checks every 5 years which means don't worry about simple non emission mods for 5 years.

I usually recommend for a daily driver downpipes with stock exhaust. You get a nice deeper sound which is not much louder, and more importantly not drone that can occur from exhaust change outs.

Also, downpipes provide more gains then exhaust swaps and are considerably cheaper then a full exhaust. So more gains and much less $$ = win

Spot on. I have Zima DP's and my exhaust valves unplugged with valves wide open. Perfect.

Yes. In PA at least we get emissions and inspection every year. The only way around it is if your car is so old it doesn't have to do emissions or if you drive it less than 5,000 miles a year it is emissions exempt

Cali is the worst. Technically illegal, but no way for anybody to know before the 5 yrs unless they check for some reason.

Another negative might be the stink. And you will have to deal with Check Engine Light.

Seems like a really good solution tho. Would also love to hear some more feedback.
