MPE installation instructions/guide

I'm thinking about the MPE for my F82 (titanium tips) and I haven't been able to find an DIY installation guide or a pdf of the installation instructions.

I assume it is simply a matter of:
- cutting the OEM exhaust at a pre-marked spot (dimple?)
- clamping the new exhaust where the cuts were made & hanging
- plugging in the exhaust valve connections

I just want to know if there is anything else so I know what I'm getting into.

Side note: are there any sweet deals out there on the MPE right now? Getbmwparts has a decent price, but I know some dealers have coupons etc.

Just curious why you want to do it yourself? BMW charged me $200 to install it which isn't outrageous considering the price of both the exhaust and the car. Also, you may want to ask BMW if your warranty is still valid if you install it. Just thoughts.

If it installs anything like the MPE for the F3X then it's super easy. I would probably do it myself even if it was free installation as I enjoy working on my cars.

I figure it will be a little more work than on the F3X because the MPE on the F8X is a full cat back system as opposed to only a rear section on the F3X.

However, your description of what needs to be done for installation is pretty bang on and there is certain satisfaction of doing stuff on your own .

Yea, I figure the only difference is 2 pipes to cut on F82 instead of one pipe on F32.

Mine is wedged between a shelf and my toolbox in my garage. Luckily the wife hasn't asked about it yet.

I drove it back to my condo and tackled it upstairs like a boss! Now it sits in my laundry room along with my chrome kidney grill and summer floor mats.

I put up a classified ad for it on a few websites but the market isn't that hot for them right now. I am sure once people want to revert their cars to stock again the market will grow. If it doesn't sell, it is always a good thing to have if you want to sell your car and MPE separately.

LOL ...nice..im a bit tight on space living in NYC... but im guessing you fit this ok in the back trunk of the M4 with the seats down? Did just put garbage bag over it something to bring it home to prevent it from getting seats dirty?

Yeah, its a tight fit, but you can definitely put it in the back with the seats down. You may want to ask your dealership if they want to buy it from you...

I took a truck to pick it up. No way I was risking tearing my leather or something.

Not many people have more than 1 car in Chicago or NYC I assume, especially not a truck.

I borrowed one. Home Depot also rents them cheap by the hour.

Good for you! Seems like a hassle though unless you live next to a Home Depot. One reason I bought the M4 was the practicality of carrying stuff when I need to, but to each his own.

Just use a friend's garage or rent a cheap storage facility. Better yet, put it under your bed!

My girlfriend mounted the driver's side chrome kidney grill in her office at work so I am sure there is a place for the exhaust. haha
