Should I get the Dinan Stage 1? Can anyone who has this tune give me some advice?

I'm on the fence whether or not to add this tune. I have to keep the warranty so its my only option but is it worth it? Anyone have any problems after adding this tune?

If you want a tune with a warranty, Dinan is your only option available. No one else offers this.

As to reliability, my guess is it's a moot point, the gains are not that much percentage wise over stock to adversely affect your S55. Case in point, I ran an N54 for 5 yrs with a Dinan Stage 3, gains in hp/tq were pretty significant vs stock numbers, and I never had any issues that were related to the Dinan tune nor did I ever have an issue going into a BMW service center for coverage.

As to cost effectiveness, only you can answer that one, it's subjective.

I have had Dinan twice now, on my 335is and on my M4, I love it, it is a noticeable difference and you have peace of mind with the warranty back up.

I have not bought the Dinan but I was able to negotiate a pretty good discount on it when looking into it. Don't pay MSRP

Looking at your location you have a GREAT resource right down the street that you can lean on to help make your decision. Reach out to Autohaus Frankfurt in Murrietta or EuroKar here on the forums and you can get a first hand account of their opinions and possibly, if its around, a ride in their Dinan demo car. If you still aren't impressed or satisfied with what you feel/see then so be it. Your decision just got made easy. =)

I can promote our product heavily but at the end of the day I am just a vendor that wants to sell product. 3rd party reviews of those that have actually used the product will be way more valuable then anything i say. We don't want an unhappy customer just as much as you don't want to be unhappy so please use your invaluable local resource to help make your decision.

No issues for me. I have about 3,000 miles with the tune. I would recommended it.

Curious as to what kept you from pulling the trigger, or did I read your response wrong? I ask because I too have felt the urge but have yet to, even as a satisfied Dinan user of past history. If you don't mind sharing...

Understood. ECU removal withstanding, you might have a bit of a wait. Be nice to see though! That or even better a PPK software upgrade, as part of a BMW comp pkg.

Imo, money well spent. Quality product commands quality price. Hence akra or eis exhausts sell for 6k for little to no hp gain.

People go in knowing that. No one buys a cat-back for the HP gain. Quite different.

Until other tuners step up and back their product (and your car) with a warranty, Dinan will always be a very compelling offering.

I've had the Dinan tune for a couple of months and you can definitely tell a difference. I had my car dynoed before and after (twice) and gained over 50ft/lb torque over stock. Peak hp only gained about 12 ponies, but averages 20-30hp gain in the commonly used 3000-5000rpm range. Nice tune for street driving.

I track my M4 more than I want to admit and the tune does great there too. It definitely doesn't suck to have all that torque coming out of turns. You can leave it in 3rd rather than downshifting to 2nd in fairly tight turns. I've not come across any cars that will leave me on the straights.

FYI, Dinan is not a guarantee you won't be denied BMW warranty work. Dinan provides "re-insurance", i.e., if BMW denies your warranty due to the Dinan part/tune, then Dinan's warranty takes over. It's a subtle but important point, especially if you lease.

Quote:
The Authorized Dinan Dealer will, without charge for parts or labor, repair or replace the defective Dinan component(s), as well as any original vehicle manufacturer’s component(s) that may have been directly affected by a Dinan component, using new or authorized remanufactured parts. The decision to repair or replace said parts is at the sole discretion of Dinan and/or the original vehicle manufacturer. Parts for which replacements are supplied under this limited warranty become the property of Dinan and/or the original vehicle manufacturer. In all cases, a reasonable period of time must be allowed for warranty repairs to be completed after the vehicle is delivered to the Authorized Dinan Dealer.

Thanks everyone for the comments and advice. I think I'll go by Eurokar tomorrow and check out the M4 with Stage 1. I am leasing my car so warranty is really an important factor in my decision. The BMW dealer I leased from in Encinitas is a Dinan distributor and had no problem rolling the Dinan Stage 1 into my lease if I wanted to. Maybe I should have taken them up on it?

Does anyone know if it makes a difference with BMWNA regarding warranty if the Dinan install comes from a BMW authorized dealer or Dinan authorized dealer?
