Installed F80 M3 Akrapovic Downpipes (with video)

After a 3 month delay, I finally received my Akrapovic downpipes.

Dropped the car for the 10k service plus some recalls and will get it back with the downpipes installed.

Here are some box pics.

I also took the car to the local drag strip and managed a 12.1 at 191.06km, so will see howit improves.

I will do some cold start
running
and acceleration videos

Plus
will see how much it improves using the Vbox.

As for the delete-R, there is still a delay till Jan or Feb.

They look sick. Good luck! Can you enlighten us on what recalls they're performing?

They look great with the Inconel heat insulation. I'd be interested in comparison with a ER or other non shielded DP in regards to intake, oil and coolant temps during track use.

Also instead of delete R (which is an OBDII plug right?) you could use a mini-cat/extender.

Pipes are pipes, doubt they'll be a lot of difference. These are very well manufactured of course, Akra FTW

There are two recalls

1) Charge pipe hose clamp...they add an additional hose clamp to the intake coming from the intercooler to avoid pipes blowing off from boost

2) Door and window frame squeak....same as what I complained about when I first got my car, and same issue that Motortrend is facing in their long term car also. Last time, the remedy worked for a month then the squaking returned. Let's hope it works this time.

Ugh. Same fix for the 1M charge pipes popping off I believe. Hopefully the F80 charge pipes dont explode like the plastic 1M charge pipes do, and hopefully somebody is already making aluminum charge pipes.

Ok,

Just got the downpipes installed and I am really really HAPPY.

Honestly, I will not install an exhaust on the car.

The car pops and crackles on over run and the turbos spool loud when driving
Oh,
and I managed to get a DSC light when shifting from 3rd to 4th... a first.

I really like how the turbos spool now and like all the noises.

My friend has an Akrapovic exhaust and this sounds actually better to my ears (of course I am biased, it is my car!!)

I am uploading a video to Youtube at the moment....
As you can see, the valves were closed at the begining, even though I used Sport+, but they opened finally at 55 seconds into the video... then the turbo spool could be heard.

This is just a teaser....

It's interesting with all the people that have been to a drag strip how consistent these cars are. Usually there is a good bit of variation from car to car and even more so for a turbo, but these things are very close to eachother, which is great.
