ER downpipes, stock exhaust, no tune
So monday I installed ER downpipes on my nine stock F82. First of all the sound is amazing, especially the loud cracks when letting off the throttle. Question is, if i just run this for a while without a tune (JB4, etc), will the car really lose power from stock? It has been raining ever since Monday in the northeast so I have not been able to test the butt dyno, but curious to see how the downpipes effect an otherwise stock car.

I cant find any news on how this version of the Delete-R installs. Even the vendors I talked to are clueless, looks different from past versions of it. Doesn't look like it attaches to the OBDII like the old ones.
I emailed Akrapovic, no response.

Where did you guys hear the ecu limits power due to the CEL? I've ran catless Downpipes on two different 335is and never had reduced power from the few times I didn't clear the CEL.

Yea, I'm not sure where you guys are getting this information, but A) a CEL does not limit power, and B) you can't hurt the oxygen sensors with downpipes....

Map 0 gets you nothing. Map 1 gets you 40-50rwhp/40-50rwtq. Map 2+ gets you even more based on mods/fuel/etc.

Correct. CEL from dp is purely emissions related due to lack of cat. Ecu wont pull timing or run rich just because of dp..

You can use 91 on map 2. Map 2 is more aggressive than 1. Any other map (6,7,8) needs better octance...100, or E85

And to further clarify- 6 is a user-adjustable boost map 7 is the race fuel map (as M ARMY pointed out) 8 is basically like Map 7, but with Meth integration.

So to bring the topic back the original post. Are people seeing power increase by just swapping in down pipes, without any tuning?
If there is a power increase, how much is it? |

Yes, power gains are there. Not huge, but notable. Different cars have shown different gains, but there are dyno's out there.

^^You lost power after DPs? OR did you mean to swap those numbers around? 428 stock is the highest I have seen so far I think mine was 417 stock.

Victor: I actually did dyno the car, quite a few times at specialty z, with Terry. My baseline was always lower than with my downpipes.
Did you dyno on the same dyno, same day? |
