Two-minute warning
My dealer has been scrambling to find me a suitable vehicle by the end of the year to take advantage of the various incentives. I'm pretty much down to 2 options, not a lot of cars available out there.
I gave up my E92 three years ago, ended the lease a full year early at the behest of a certain family member. After a week of intense, and sometimes heated, domestic negotiations, all parties have agreed that provided the vehicle has 4 doors peace and tranquility shall reign for 39 months. Since this is last minute, and there are not a lot of options available one concession I must make is a CF roof. Just about every available F80 out there comes w/ a moonroof. The ones that don't have too many unnecessary (for me) options, like ceramic brakes, etc. That being said, these are essentially my 2 options: A) Alpine White / Full black DCT B) Mineral Grey/ Sakhir Orange DCT Exec HK Adaptive Susp 19" black wheels Everything else on each car is the same, both have a bleeping moonroof, CF interior, etc. The $ difference per month (this will be a leased daily driver) is not a huge factor, both scenario's require some that some ancillary $ be spent for winter tires, black grills, etc. Personally, I'm leaning to option B because I love the heads up display in my current BMW, and I like my music very loud, and I like the color combination. However, I've been saying no more dark cars for a decade as I get immeasurably pissed when I see that first chip that gets own to the white undercoating. I'm always interested in the opinions of like-minded fans, so please - tell me what you think. Thanks

I personally love my mineral grey. Not hard to maintain like black. Thank God no swirls. You are going to see a lot of white M's. You won't regret it. With grey CF roof doesn't show much anyway. Enjoy it if the money is right.

Thanks for the insight into the mineral grey - the required maintenance for my old carbon black cars drove me nuts, especially the paint swirling, good to hear it's not to much of an issue.

I would go with option B due to the packages and incentives provided. I don't understand why HUD isn't standard on these vehicles. With the integrated Bluetooth and navigation, it makes for a much safer drive. I have a MW M3 with DCT and a CF roof. The CF is a "luxury" that you will not miss. I personally think the SO interior is well done and not "over the top".
Take the plunge...

Option B, would be my choice...mainly for the executive package, and adaptive suspension(I've heard many complaints about the standard suspension). I also like the color contrast and the fact there are fewer gray M3's than white.
Either way you will enjoy!

Definitely option b. For options yes, but also because the sunroof won't stand out as much in a MG car. Mineral gray is the color that most closely matches the CF roof color, so if you have to be without CF roof, MG is the best color to do that in.

MG is a great color. It has lots of details to it in different lights. Under florescent lights it looks great. Also in overcast weather is has another personality. I would get it again someday. You can go awhile without washing and it still looks great too.
Good luck. |

Option B
You will be more upset about not having HUD for the next 39 months than dealing with the paint color. Unless you are looking for a stripper, then its a no brainer. |

For what it's worth, I have dark graphite F10, not exactly mineral gray but in the same family of color. I have no issues w swirls marks, hides then much better than black or dark blue, and I have several rock chips on front bumper already and one on hood and they are all virtually invisible even when standing close to the front of car. I would def go with your option B.

Definitely option B. The executive package is well worth it. I hesitated for a while before deciding to add it to my order, and after driving the car for three weeks, I'm glad I added it.

I would also go with option B. Very close to what I'll be picking up (hopefully) this week since my ordered car got pushed back too far. Also not very happy to be without a CF roof, but I'll make do - it is still an M3 after all.

Lol on the domestic negotiation requiring a 4 door. I too made that commitment plus the two week Euro Delivery was also a selling factor and getting her an X5 also went a long way in sealing my M3 deal with the wife

Option B. Buying the car without the executive package would be very weird. I love MG. Its not as low maintenance as Space Grey on the M3 (which barely ever looked dirty) but its certainly better than black. It also goes very nicely with the black wheels.
