Exhaust goals?
Random, but it seems like everyone here is looking for an exhaust for sound... Is this so? I had an Evo X before my e92 (I now have an M4) and 2.5 piping isn't really anything a forced induction car should be "upgrading" to. My understanding is stock piping is already 2.5" anyways. Turboed cars, irregardless of the turbo size at this point, should be on 3" or better.
Is TPG the only vendor actually building for power? Made me happy to see an actual 3" turboback. I plan on grabbing their street version. Just my observation. I may be wrong. I just keep seeing threads about how downpipes sound and how the exhaust sound. Very little dyno post. |

You are mistaken. 2.5" is more than enough for a 2-300hp 2.0l 3 cylinder, which each bank of manifold/turbo/downpipe/exhaust acts like. The Evo only has 1 exhaust (2.0l) and 2.5" piping is not a restriction until you have near 400whp.

I disagree. At some point that 2.5" X-pipe will cause a restriction. If you're spending 2500+ on an exhaust I'd make sure it was a true 3" that could work with any upgrades (compressor wheel etc...) you may do in the future. A 5k 2.5" exhaust for a twin turboed car isn't practical be it "enough".
My whole point was where are the results? Show me a 2.5 making gains comparable to the TPG 3" or AA... |
