Just got back from break in had stage 1 tune installed at dealer

Hey guys,
So I don't really have time for a formal review but if anyone has questions I'd be more than happy to answer.

Went in for break in came out with stage 1 tune from Bmw.

I went this route because I prefer having the warrantee from Bmw.

Specs
Ponies bumped to 520@6000
Torque bumped to 490@3500

First impression
Most noticeably, the torque. Wow. Have to be very cautious when stepping on it. You feel it right from first.

Induction noise
The turbo noise is so much more apparent. It's intoxicating and I love it. ๐Ÿ˜

Exhaust sounds a bit louder as well. Don't know if that's from breaking in or tune.

Bmw dealer did in house testing. Or at least what I was told also there "dinan" guy was there. So I had guy from Bmw and dinan guy feeding me this info. He's going to email me proper documentation. Honestly car feels fantastic so I'm not too anal about the numbers.

Lol I went to get my break in and they told me the stage 1 dinan tune was being released so since it comes with a warrantee from the dealer I said why not.

nice upgrade for sure.

i plan on doing it when my car arrives.

but those numbers seem a bit "massaged" to say the least.

i hope they are accurate though.

Yea those the same thoughts I had but in the end at least for me, it's how I feel when I drive the car and the fun I'm having. The difference is notable which I love and I'm constantly grinning when driving this thing. So def recommended. These cars are def underrated btw dinan guy told me stock cars numbers are way low. Hp was in the 480s and torque in the 430s

Off the website:
Max HP Gain 42 @ 6000 RPM
Max Torque Gain 47 @ 3500 RPM
Peak Horsepower 516 @ 6000 RPM
Peak Torque 489 @ 3500 RPM
BMW Factory Rated HP 425 (484 Measured)
BMW Factory Rated Torque 406 (446 Measured)

Interestingly they test at Dinan even before the stage 1 at 484bhp and 446tq. The gains seem to have the most impact on the midrange power curves. A bit pricey at this point but the few that have reported here are very happy. Dinan covers you with a match warranty which is nice but for those of us that plan on keeping the car after the OEM 4yr/50k warranty period, you lose the option of the extended BMW warranty. Which keeps me on the fence as to go with the Dinan tune or not, that plus the cost to performamce ratio and just the idea of a piggyback as compared to a user friendly flash system as was offered for the N54/55 by Cobb. Come on guys, Cobb, let's get it done please.

This has all been discussed before. Bottom line, Dinan is claming small gains, but using a larger baseline as that's how their dyno measured the pre and post. Nothing wrong with that, people who want to willy wave are wise to remember it's not the final number, but it's really about what did you gain on the dyno after running it again.

FYI, read up on Dinan's warranty procedures. They agree to step in and cover anything that BMW won't cover as a result of the tune for a period of time. It's not under factory warranty.

Don't sweat it no matter what others say...I had a Dinan S3 on my 335i e92 and bmw covered me for 2 HPFPs and 2 injector banks as well as all the regular stuff covered under the 4yr/50 OEM warranty, it was NEVER an issue. As yours is, if they are bmw & Dinan under the same roof, you are all good!

Lol exactly. Thank you!! I'm cool with everybody at my dealer and they've never given me an issue with anything. Appreciate the feedback!

On a motor built for FI? Probably very little. More hurt on the turbos if anything.

so you got the tune at your 1200 mile service? were you pushing the car hard before? just curious how you noticed a gain if it was under break-in. i'm sure there is the mid-range bump but i hardly call the stock car a slouch. would be great to see some real dyno numbers on this thing before and after. someone loan me $2600 for a unbiased test. I don't mind putting in the work. lol

whats next for your car? drop? not enough pics of black M4's here. post some up! thanks for sharing.

Dinan is pretty conservative, doubt if it will have much negative long term effect on the engine.

OP did not do before and after dynos, so we don't know the exact gains he had. His butt dyno seems to like it. Another board member did dyno his Dinan tune and had about 20-30 whp and 40-50 wtq gains iirc.

I'm thinking about getting this tune on mine, just trying to work on my service advisor on pricing.

Congrats on the tune

It is pretty awesome to have your local BMW dealer also be a Dinan dealer
