After listening to many exhausts.. this is what I ended up with.

I think the sound, craftsmanship and fitment is extremely good. I like the deep throaty sound and I think Borla nailed it with this catback. I bought it used because I can never see myself paying thousands for metal pipes, no mater what they are made of, where they are made or who makes them. Don't mean to offend anyone, thats just my personal opinion.

They pretty much all sound the same. Unless you get a race type, then your ears will bleed and your neighbours will hate you.

They actually sound really good, as most people can attest to. It's no where near worth the price though.

This rating from a Borla customer on Turner's website: "Perfect fit and good looking on my 2011 M3 Coupe. Moderately loud and cool sound from outside the car, however it drones and booms at low rpm inside which is not pleasant."

Borla claims there is no drone or cabin resonance on their website.

Which Borla are you running? I had an Atak and it was a screamer that didn't drone at all. It was about as loud as an E. Race. I liked it but it drowned out my intake noise. My fave is still the MPE for its tone w/o drone and balance with my intake. Congrats on finding an exhaust that does it for you, it can be a challenge reaching that point.

Borla is great sounding exhaust and sounds good on your car OP. However, I couldnt help but respond to the Akra dig.

To me, if you own the best why not get the best? The Akrapovic, is a one time cost with great residual value and bragging rights. Its also hated on, simply due to envy kinda like the M3 is hated on. I stuck other exhausts on my car and what did I get? Horrible fitment, drone -drone and more drone, and only minor weight reduction to stock.

I bought the Arapovic slip for really 3 reasons. Perfect fitment and since the tips are adjustable - I got perfect fitment. I also got zero drone, and the weight is only 28Lbs since its all titanium (Borla is around 50 Lbs I think). On top of that it sounds great, like a BMW M3 not a Dodge charger!

Thats my .02 cents.

I have the meisterschaft GT2 with ESS test pipes and damn it is loud but a good loud. It sounds great. Downshifts with the DCT are amazing and they scare the crap out of people on the sidewalks.

Very subdued when just cruising and there is some drone up to about 1700 or so but after that it can be very quiet just cruising but when you stomp on it, everyone will hear you from a mile away. It sounds godly...

Had a cop give me a thumbs up the other day when I downshifted in front of him. Good times.

i think the build quality is the best. but personally i never found the tone of the exhaust to be of my liking. i would take a esman race or GT2 exhaust over the akra if they were both priced the same.

I've got a full supersprint and think it sounds amazing. It SCREAMS under wot and proper downshifts are great.

Slight drone at 2000 rpm but I've learned to avoid this engine speed. When cruising in 6th at about 120km/h it sounds near stock in the cabin.

And as far as fitment goes, it's perfect, right from the headers all the way back. I don't think you only have one exhaust option should you demand proper fitment.

As for weight, I think it's about 17kg lighter than stock.

Only thing that sucked was I ordered it from TMS, who were very helpful, but they had to order it out of Italy. So it took about 6 weeks to arrive here in Canada. It was a loooooooong wait.

Sorry to thread jack, OP yours sounds good, glad you found something you like!

Exhaust only drones low speeds/low RPM, basically until you hit 30mph or so. It personally does not bother me since almost all my driving is done above that. Exhaust weighs 34 pounds and I love the fact that you cannot see a big muffler hanging in the middle (OEM exhaust). Having 2 separate mufflers cleans up the rear and gives you a nice view of the diff cooler. Fitment is also adjustable and perfect btw...lots of adjustment in the exhaust to get it just right. Many great exhausts that are "perfect" to others depending on sound tastes however the price tag is ridiculous, unless you are a track junkie I can care less about weight as long as it is close to stock. Feel free to share any clips with another "deep" sounding exhaust, this for me is perfect for now.

out of curiosity why do people always put exhaust sound videos with a camera on the rear bumper? I'm not interested in how the exhaust sounds to pedestrians. I want to know how it sounds to me as the driver. I don't drive with my head hanging out the rear window. I think having the camera inside the car beside the driver will give a more realistic sense of what to expect with those exhausts.

Rather subtle, but in a good way. Sporty but not obnoxious. Solid choice if you don't plan on getting crazy with performance mods.

It's very difficult to capture the sound from inside the cabin on these cars, especially if you have an aftermarket air filter/CAI setup. The engine growl overpowers the exhaust note in most cases.

It is a very nice exhaust, just a little too quiet for my taste.
