I've had this happen also about 3 times in the first 3 weeks. It seems to have stopped for a while now. Not sure on the root cause.

My M buttons switch settings on me randomly. Sometimes m1 will be manual, and I'll hit that for about a week, then all of a sudden one day I hit m1 and its in auto on the medium setting and m2 is manual. My hid, steering etc all goes with it when it does this.

Any ideas?
SAME issue as well! It will be fine for about a week and than resets to auto

Strange.

One thing to keep in mind is that if you hold the button down it will be set to the curent settings. So it is possible to inadvertently program it if, for example, you hold it too long while intending to change cruise control speed or adjust volume. Not saying that's what is causing your issues, but it is something that could catch someone off guard and confuse them, and could lead to symptoms similar to these.

A dumb question....But are you using the same key?

Are any of the M settings stored on individual key? I don't think so...but figured I throw it out there

This is it

The M buttons are key dependent.

My previous Acura (2008) adjusted to the key fob. Basically, two different key fobs (labeled one and two) and would have settings to each one.

I just remember in my E90 M3 a lot of the settings were key dependent. So I had basically labelled the keys with the labels that came in the manual. It appears BMW did not give us those sticky labels this time.

I gotta fabricate something for his/her keys...

Get a pink cover for one of them, then have your wife choose whatever color she wants.

My M button has reset to default twice since I got the car in August. I only use one key... the other is tucked away in my desk.

this happens to me and I'm using the same key. I've seen it happen as I'm actually driving..it also tends to shift the DCT setting on it's own as well from time to time!

You can set up a driver profile in iDrive so that it keeps your settings no matter which key you choose. If you have multiple drivers for your M, you can set up a driver profile for each one and assign it to one of the radio preset buttons.

Love those radio presets, they can do everything!

Not everything. I have not been able to make the buttons to toggle between regular HUD and M HUD. Would love to be proven wrong though.

BTW, my M buttons settings have no problem at all. I use the same key fob all the time. If you save it when you are in manual DCT mode, that is what it will be when you press the M button.
