need a little help after intake cleaning
Hey guys need a little help.
I did a lot of searching before I came here but only could find so much. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I just finished cleaning my intake valves using chemicals (b12 and carb cleaner). It took me almost a week due to work. Well I finished today and when I started my car burned some blue smoke for a second or two then ran fine. Only issue the CEL has gone off. I don't have any tools to reset it. First question is is there a way to reset the cel with out one? I tried the disconnect battery technique with no success. Seems the code did not reset at all because it was on before I even started the car. I replaced the manifold gaskets, throttle body gasket and vacuum lines from the DV to the intake manifold with vacuum lines from advance. They are not as stiff as the OEM. Is this an issue? It looks like they might be collapsing under vacuum. I am stock with borla cat back exhaust. No codes until after this cleaning. The codes that are thrown are: P0238 P142E P0113 Car is running fine, idle is smooth, revs are smooth, drove the car it runs great. No bogging or studering. It is in limp mode though as you can tell it has no pull/power. Any insight would be great. Thanks guys. If you need more info, ask I'll explain anything I can. It varies on the make. Honestly not sure on what bmw drive cycles are like. And how many it would need to turn the light off. I guess it really depends on how oftej the computer checks for those faults. If the code came on before you even started vehicle it might be a hard fault. Meaning an open or shorted circuit. Most likely not being plugged in all the way. Car will still run with certain sensors unplugged. Itll go off of other sensors instead. If you do end up finding someone to clear the lights and the faults come right back I'd check all connections to sensors.

P0238 = Turbocharger Boost Sensor A Circuit High
P142E = Not sure exactly but some sort of HPFP related error P0113 = Intake Air Temperature Circuit High Input Did you try clearing codes with Carista or some other OBD2 app? That would be my first attempt. |

The cables for these apps can only be bought online or can I find one at a local store? |

I use a Bluetooth obd2 adapter. Carissa works fine for reading and clearing codes. Simple but effective.

UPDATE:
Got my codes cleared this morning and the only thing coming up is the p0238. Which is boost sensor high circuit as stated before. Does this mean there is a short in the sensor or the sensor is disconnected? Also, the SES on the top right went away but image of a half filled engine is still on there and it is still in limp mode. Is the dealer the only way to get it out of limp mode? Thanks for any input UPDATE #2 Just figured it out. I forgot to plug in the sensor that connects to the CP. lol Is that the boost sensor? I feel a little silly but happy I figured it out. Thanks to anyone who helped out. Last edited by saace7; 10-13-2014 at 11:54 AM.. |
