1200 Mile Service Complete, Rear-Ended On The Way Home
Well this is really not how I wanted my first post to go, hours lurking on here and 1100 miles driven in just 14 days (still on temp tags!) has led to this moment.
Just shortly after my service advisor gave me the go-ahead to open her up a bit, I never got the chance. I was in stop and go beltway traffic as I came to a stop and the lady driving a Solara behind me didn't. It was a pretty awful feeling watching her in my rear view mirror cruise right into me. A few minutes earlier in traffic, I noticed some guys in a riced up Civic checking out my car. I ended up ahead of them so they cruised past just as I got out of my car on the shoulder... I heard them screaming "noooo" as they went by. Luckily she has insurance and nobody is hurt so all will be well in my world again, hopefully sooner than later... Anyone else get in an accident? Any idea how long it'll take for replacement parts?? EDIT: Added some good 'before' pictures in post #6. On to the pics: IMG_3488 IMG_3487 IMG_3486 IMG_3482 IMG_3481 IMG_3494 IMG_3493 IMG_3492 IMG_3483 Cold beer and Orioles Playoff baseball to take my mind off of it! Man, that sucks. Hopefully she'll be as good as new in no time.

So sorry to see that! I think the turn around should be fairly quick. Although for such a new car I might imagine a few delays for parts. Could be hit or miss but it could have been much worse!
Glad everyone is ok. Is your car mineral white or alpine white? |

I know the feeling well. All will turn out in the end. Might considering filing a diminished value claim with her insurance company.

Very nice! I'm sure it will be good as new! Maybe you could cover some of the exhaust repair with some insurance money and upgrade to the MPE.
Good thing you have alpine because they'll have to respray a whole lot and I hear Mineral White is a nightmare to match. |

Part of the reason I opted for AW instead of MW, much thanks to this forum! And good call, I'm working on having the dealership get the M Performance Exhaust and M Performance Diffuser put in |

The good news it looks like its just the bumper cover and the reinforcement underneath it. If you notice the bumper still is aligned nicely.

Nooooo!
Man I feel you! About a month ago my M5 was vandalized so I kind of know what you are going through. I highly recommend Koons down in Alexandria to do your repairs for you. That's who I took my M5 to and they did a superb job in replacing my damaged parts. They work on a lot of BMW's since they are basically down the street from the dealership. This is reason why I run with my Euro rear fog lights on and my straight piped exhaust on the beltway. Too many idiots out there not paying attention texting and everything. Even tonight I saw some dude holding up his iPhone in front of his face while driving in an SUV, ridiculous. Good luck hope she's back up soon!

That feels like a free M sport diffuser and M sport exhaust if you play your cards right.... my _neck hurts_ just looking at that
Seriously though hopefully it's just the bumper and a bent tip.. no huge deal, but definitely diminished value because that's going to == a 4-5K pop at trade in/sale time. |

Heartbreaking
I agree with others that the alpine white shouldn't be a big problem to match. I see you bought from Apple BMW in York. Their collision shop does good work and if you live near them, I recommend them. Also easy to have the MPE and M perf diffuser put on because its adjacent to the dealership. |

So sorry to hear. This same thing almost happened to me on Wednesday. Just getting back from my 1200 mile service also, and some idiot in a old van almost plowed into the rear end at about 60 mph. I actually had to go down onto the shoulder and off the road a bit to avoid being hit. And then the idiot flipped me the bird as he drove past, like it was my fault. He was not paying attention and I saw him in the rear view mirror, just like you. Had the shakes the rest of the way home.
