ESS owners...questions

1) Who has the most miles on their kit so far? I've been reading for a couple of days on threads from even 3 years ago, and I have seen some folks with 20-30k miles on it (with track time), but would like to get a better idea from you guys if there are folks here - in general - that have had the kit for a few years or a good 40-50k and what some of the issues where.

2) anyone running these kits long term in South Florida, or any other Hot and humid weather? It's the one thing that really keeps me from pulling the trigger, the reliability and performance in this S. FL horrendous weather.

3) As I read thru some of the threads, several people on several occasions have mentioned that they have even removed the intercooler in the 595/600/625 kits and that it actually helped keep the temperatures down .... I don't see how that is even possible, but I'd like to hear from you guys who know the kits better. Here is one example of many replies saying something along those lines:
http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...6&postcount=75

My warranty is set to expire in a few months, and I'm debating whether to just buy an extended BMW warranty (platinum or gold -> ~$5-6k), or say fuck it, and go for an ESS kit like a VT-595 and call it a day.

any inputs are appreciated

I would invest in rod bearing change first before going SC route. Many owners are reporting rod bearing failures

Seeing the threads about this the past few weeks, I was already planning on changing them out if I were to go S/C route

any chance we can meet up once you've had a chance to test your car back, and let me get a feel for it?

ssburrito!

if you run meth with the SC kit then you won't have to worry about intake air temps..

just add an upgraded oil cooler as a safety precaution and you should be fine.

Yes, just did the 625 out here in CA. Get a ride in one, and let the mods begin!

Oh, and send an oil sample to Blackstone to see about rod bearing wear.

I've been running an ess vt650 kit for almost 3 years now and have done 55,000kms on it. Have not had a problem I've put a m24 oil cooler on at the same time to be safe

Yes, definitely. I stay in north lauderdale/pompano.
i picked up the car this week, did the break in period already and car is a beast. it does run a little bit hotter than usual, sits on 210, maybe a little over when hitting it, but no problems at all. i upgraded my oil cooler also at the same time just to be safe.

next week im going away for my honeymoon, so mid september im back and we can go for a drive! unless you want to meet today/tomorrow.
