210mm 3.62 R&P from an e46 M3...fit?
Will a 3.62 R&P from an E46 M3 fit in an E9X M3 diff? They are both 210mm and I would imagine that there isn't a whole lot of difference between 210mm R&P's.
That would be a good thing since I'll have a spare 3.62 from my E46 laying around in the future.

Perhaps vac or diffs online can give you some insight on this. They deal with that sort of thing a lot more than us forum geniuses do. Or, tear it apart and let us all know the outcome. Should be a 6-8 beer task, give or take 12

I know...but I'm being really lazy and hoping the answer falls into my lap.

Based on the above post, it sounds like e46 M3 and e9x M3 R&P are interchangeable. Which trans do you have in your e90 M3 - DCT or 6-sp M? I'm running a 3.62 diff in my e92 M3 DCT and love it! My track-prep'd e46 M3 has a 4.10 diff. |

So I would guess that any BMW with a 210mm R&P is interchangeable?

Why the 3.91 in your e46? In my case the 4.10 was the best choice because the speed in gear was a perfect fit for slow-medium speed corners at the tracks I frequent the most. Yes, if one R&P ratio fits then all other ratios will fit. |

I think in my case its either/or. Some tracks a 4.10 seems to work better...others a 3.91 seems to save a couple of shifts. So I figured that I'll go with a 3.91 because the R&P is cheaper. But next week I might prefer the 4.10.

simple answer: yes.
bearings are different. the new 4.10 is a higher quality r&p-set than the 3.91 one. (material/surface finishing) |
