Leave it or Add Oil?

Hey guys
we all are aware that our S65 is an oil eater

My last oil service was about 4 months ago, and since then i only drove about 1500 miles. but after a long drive I realized the oil meter says there's about half left.

Should I add 1/4, or perhaps 1/2 bottle of 10W60 OEM oil?

I know that Less/Adequate oil is better than overflowing amount of oil, so I do not want to overfill.

After searching some topics, it said our M3s will show warning "Add 1L of oil" when it's not adequate. Is this true? I never saw this sign, while my oil gauge reads about 1/2 left on oil.

What should I do?

*Oh, I will be "storing" my car for about 4 months, although it will be driven about 3~5 miles once every month during the time, other than that I won't be driving it

Wait until it tells you to add 1 quart and only put 1/2 in. Until then, keep driving the car.

If its at half, then add half quart.. I always like to keep my oil level at the max..

I would not add any oil as you will likely overfill it. Your oil indicator being at "half" doesn't mean that you have half the amount of oil you are supposed to. Until the warning light comes on saying +1qt there is no need to add any oil.

If you are storing it, don't worry about the oil, just make sure your gas tank if filled all the way to the top. Honestly, I'd drive it further than 3-5 miles, I'd get it to at least operating temperature (while driving, not idling).

If you are hell bent on adding oil, please do not add half a quart. Even when it tells you to add 1L, you add half of that and check. That thing is never accurate.

I would add 1/4 of a bottle. I always aim to get the gauge to show 3/4 full, noting that it can take several trips before the gauge registers the oil added so do not be tempted to add even more oil thinking you didn't add enough.

My gauge said about 2/5 full (about 40% filled betwene Minimum + Maximum line)
So I added about 1/8 quart, drove around.
Added another 1/8 quart, then it went upto 1/2 Full now, exactly halfway between Minimum and Maximum.

Added another 1/4 quart, so total of 1/2 Quart added today.
Drove around much, tried re-measurement of oil level.
It still says 1/2 Full.

Not gonna add anymore, we will see if this dumb sensor gives me more accurate measurement later.
