Sleeving a S65, inherent issues

It seems both Ferrari and McLaren sleeve their cylinder walls with great success. Now in the time I've been on the board, I've seen few if any successful S65s that have been bored over and sleeved; few exist but the ones that do have blown up. Can experts (VAC, tuners, etc) explain why (AlSi not very compatible with steel??)? I'd like to increase the boost and bore my motor one day hence my curiosity.

Steel transmits heat much worse than aluminum. 4x worse.

Why would you want to sleeve when the stock alu bores are already specifically treated to make them extremely hard?

We have a 825hp VT3 (ESS) car that has run around 20k miles without sleeving. Do you plan to go beyond that?

Good point about the thermal conductivity differences. That said, however, Ferrari/Mclaren motors are sleeved and reliable.

Drew's car, if that is what you are referring to, I believe is still only 4.0L. I'd like to run 4.6L but fear that the wall thickness is too thin with significant boost (say 14+ psi).

You could get to 4.4L without sleeving or boring the block out. Something to think about

Hopefully RG, aussieM3 or BMLVR will chime in

From what RG and I have talked about most of the sleeved builds are no longer running. Not sure if it is from the sleeve failure or other means. Will get back to you on it.
I would not sleeve it unless you have already blown it up once.

Yes I spoke to Alex briefly on this, he does have success but don't know the details and what the root of the problem is with most sleeve jobs

I'm using Darton Sleeves flanged sleeves. So far i spent 4000€ on the block preparation (machining, honing, decking etc...) including the sleeve's price. Have in mind we have higher labor cost in here.
