Changing my oil using Casmotrobil 0-60

***UPDATE*** Blackstone report below.
----------------------------------------------------

Drain the oil, change the filter, add four bottles of Mobil 1, then top off with 10-60. It should take a little over 8 bottles total.

If it wasn't summer, I'm tempted to go all Mobil 1, for half the price essentially. An approved LL1 oil is an approved LL1 oil right? Maybe not.

I have ~111000 miles on the car. A Blackstone report is coming for the previous 11000 miles using 100% Castrol 10-60.

***UPDATE***

Here it is. Looks good. 12500 on this oil. And I drove the crap out of it. Over 127000 miles now.

Why did you mix the two? If I recall, the experts on here said that wasn't a good idea.

+ 1 , True !
About the thread word "Casmotrobil"....To be honest it sounds like 5H1T !
Hope the S65 appreciate the "Casmotrobil" better than it sounds !

A full oil change is 9L....... If you haven't done the oil change yet, try using 15W50 Mobil instead of the Castrol. Go with 5 Mobil 0W40 and 4 Mobil 15W50.

You won't have any major issues with the Castrol 10W60 and Mobil 0W40, but the base stocks and add packs of the Mobil products are almost the same, hence they compliment each other better.

That shounds like a damn good plan. A jug of 0W40 from Walmart and 4 bottles of 15W50 when it goes on sale at Autozone/Pepboys/ORielly's.

0w-40 isn't recommended for the S65 anyway (aside from an emergency top-off), aside from mixing the two, what were you trying to achieve here? Some sort of balance?

Search 0w40 and decide for yourself if it's the right oil for you.

+1 on the 15-50 weight. I recommend Motul oil, been good on my end. Its ester based.

Yes, you are correct, "recommended by the Internet" vs "recommended by BMW", folks have to weigh the unknown risks. I sure wouldn't mix the two oils, however.

A very good point.

My car is probably one of the earliest and oldest on this forum - '07 September build - and has been running TWS 10w60. My blackstone report recently was, I think good. One thing for sure, TWS burns. I filled with 9l and have hardly done 2k km since the change and the oil level is down to 1/2. This has been the case from day one since I owned the car. The burn is well within the BMW specs, so no worries in that front. I just bought a litre of Liqui Moly 10w60 GT1 to top up.

Terrible idea mixing oils like this. Use one or the other. You're not baking a cake.

"Recommended by BMW" and the S54 goes BOOM. Then S85 goes BOOM and now the S65 goes BOOM.
I'm just sayin.

You know that 10w60 was only recommended after the e46 suffered from bottom end issues.

I get what you're saying I was trying to clarify the OPs need to mix the two, one with a BMW recommended oil, the other, while LL01, isn't recommended for the S65.

Good point, but they still fail at the bearings.

Got it.

I plan on doing the 0W40 and 15W50 mix my next oil change.

I was reading where Nissan GTR folks are using 10-60 and some are blending 0-40 and 10-60.

My intent was to make sure the 10-60 was not too thick for some reason.

I don't believe mixing oil weights equates to something like
