for all california people its only gonna get worse becasue the new cell phone law on July 7th is gonna give the Rambos another reason to be anal on tints, if the car is too dark then they cant tell if you are on the phone or not. I am planning to get mine redone from 20 to 35 just to aviod the fix-it casue a cop can atleast see you with 35%.

i dont like the hassel of being pulled over and if i get a fix it i have to take it all off, show a cop and then go back and get it redone. this was the first car i got tinted so i took a buddy with me and said do 20% and i trusted him, when i saw it i was like "dam, thats a fix it waiting to happen" what bugs me the most is i feel like i cant enjoy the car i have been wanting for a long time because irvine averages like 1 cop per light (or thats just me freaking out)

actually 20% is pretty good. not that dark from the inside looking out. and that is just 1 step down from the legal limit (35). I have 5% in the back and can see perfectly at night.
not really a hassle. plus maybe you're lucky and never get pull over for that. |

You broke the law and you got caught stop crying. 15% is really dark and you are just asking for it. Also I want to see you stop paying your taxes, IRS would be up your ass so fast you thought it was your boyfriend.

Um... in CA, there is no legal amount of tint (maybe 70%, which is what many sites say, but the vehicle code says nothing affixed to the window and later says 88%.)

Most states have tint laws. Most everyone knows what they are. Tint shops will also tell you. If you tint beyond the legal allowance you are violating a law. When you get a ticket for it, why is it the cop's fault?
I think the real model citezens are keeping their cars within legal tint limits.

Why would you pay more then the cost of a "fix it ticket" to have tint removed and then replaced. My wife has gotten one for her tint and we just paid the $35 and didn't give it another thought. You broke the law so pay the fine, consider it a tint tax and move on with your life.
In AZ I have had 5% on all my cars for the last 14 years and never received a ticket. In my old age I decided that 5% was way to dark to see out of so I opted for 20% all the way around and I like it much better. "Rambo" huh, don't hate because you broke the law and got caught. They don't make the laws they merely get paid to enforce them. |

I don't get why you all are complaining. There is a law in your state or country and citizens have to folllow. If you don't like that, get out of there.
We ALL know the law when we decided to tint our cars and we know that is a gamble to tint below the limit. So what if you lose the bet? eat it up and pay it. or chicken out and follow the laws |

What makes you think you can select which law should
be applied to you? This is the law. Period. If it is illegal you might run out of luck someday. When I removed my front plate I knew it was illegal in California. One day I was pull over for speeding and ended up getting a ticket for the front plate. My 2cts. |

As a former tinter I absolutely hate limo tint on any of the windows, people don't do it for the heat because there isn't that much difference. It is extremely annoying to not be able to see through a cars windows, I might as well be following a fu&%ing SUV that just blocks you from seeing whats happening in front of him. It's a no cost ticket. Just show em the car with the film stripped off, and get it retinted in 35% like your supposed to. Show a little consideration for the rest of us. Besides cops are jittery enough without you having to have the Ghetto look.

what? a former tinter and you made that kind of statement. " there isn't that much difference". Have you compared the spec between 5% and 35% or even 20% on any brand?
if a person is stupid enough to follow a small sedan(e90) that closely to the pt where they can't see anything ahead. that is his/her problem. |

In CO the legal limit is 27% which is pretty generous compared to other states. What happens when I am driving through other states that have a more strict legal limit? I can't be expected to take off my tinit because I am passing through another jurisdiction. Is there some sort of reciprocity?
I have not gotten my windows tinted yet becauseI have yet to take delivery. The tinter that will be doing my work uses 18% and 35% film. The more I read the less I want to be hassled. I like the look of the darker 18% but I do not want a reason to be pulled over. When it comes to the law I am not a gambling man. |

Illinois is strictly no-tint but they define "tint" as a film with less than like ~75% transmission of visible light. This is to allow IR- and UV-blocking coatings and security (anti-shatter) films so long as they don't block too much light. |
