CCB owner here. Never seen that before, but it almost looks like a small rock got stuck in the caliper and wore all the way around the disc? No clue.

I had CCB's on my M3 Comp and now have CCB's on my M5 Comp and haven't had any issues like this. I agree with windtendo, looks like something got stuck in between the pad and rotor.

I have seen this before from track damage on one 911 before. It was ran very hard. The ceramic disc literally started to crumble like a pie crust and have the integrity of the ceramic discs come apart. This can be from a few reasons but manufacturing defect is not out of the question even if a stone did get in there from street use. With that low miles and never tracking the car, I can’t believe that would be considered any abuse by the dealer. That is a dealer visit for sure.

Oh. Oh my God. Man I hope you can get that resolved. But as windtendo said - looks like a rock got caught in there. Did you feel this happen while braking? Or did you notice it while the car was off?

Dear Lord. Best of luck getting this resolved, dude. As everyone else has mentioned, it sure looks like some debris got lodged in the caliper and tore up your disc.
Hopefully the dealership can help, but this is one of those things that may end just being a huge pill to swallow. Please keep us updated. |

ok first of all, stop driving the car, that rotor is now garbage.
2nd, get it on a lift, and remove the rotor and replace it... and see if you can see anything in between the pad and rotor. This is going to bite, and hard. I would change the pads on the front axle and buy a new rotor.... You can still keep the other rotor on the opposite side providing it's in decent shape. Which it should be if the car hasn't been tracked. |

I'd love CCB's due to low brake dust, but threads like this scare me. I shudder to think how much a replacement rotor is. |

I'm no expert but this post looks pretty different with those trailing abrasions. But shit I'd try to jump on the getting it replaced under warranty train. It might not leave the station but what's the alternative? 😬

Should be covered under warranty. They will also only warranty the one faulty rotor. The material on the rotor should obviously not come off like that lol. I wonder if any of it is stuck in the pad now too.

Like many have said it looks like some debris has got caught between the pad and the rotor which has caught a cross drilled hole and it ripped the caliper.
I can't see you getting warranty, but good luck. Also if you decide to retrofit steel let me know as I'd like to retrofit CCB! |

Good point on the insurance, but I would hope this would be covered by warranty even though it is not likely a manufacturer's defect. I wonder if the owner has any extended warranties. Sometimes they cover things like road hazards or failures that are not caused by manufacturer defects

I recently had something similar happen to the rear left disk on my 991.2 Turbo S. It’s called delamination, I even found a BMW PDF saying areas up to 5cm are OK to drive with. I ended up replacing the disk and the car was out of warranty 🙂
You should be able to have it replaced under warranty, it’s probably a defect. |
