I also smile whenever I see my car. There's something unique about the look of the car, it's not like your ordinary box w/ 4 wheels on it and a logo slapped on it. It has personality.

Thing that makes me smile the most -- going an extra ten miles out of the way because I want to keep driving, then hopping back on the interstate the other way...for another lap instead of going where I had intended.
Second favorite was when my HPDE instructor said that this car is so fast after our first track session...high praise from an E46 M3 driver. |

My last car was an S2000 and it had push start but no comfort access. Not only that, but you had to stick the key in, then turn it before pushing the start button with your foot on the clutch. Naturally, I had the same questions you sir have. The fact of the matter is, mechanical starters are not as reliable as using electrical switches to start the vehicle. That's the reason for the push start craze, besides it's apparent novelty.

I would get a smile on my face every time every time I got in. I love the power available all the time, no matter the gear or speed. It's just the right size, and the interior is laid out in a sensible way. (Why yes, of course the center stack should angle toward the driver.)
And then it protected me in a t-bone at 40+ mph. If it does end up totaled (no word yet) I may get another just like it. |

Every once in a while I use the onsite car wash service at work (like today). I'm one of the last to go home and just coming out of the office to the lone 135i in the lot glowing from a glorious detail service still gets me all giddy.
Of course, the drive home isn't bad either. <3 no traffic! |

I love the look of my car and how it forces me to turn around to take another look as I walk away. I love the way people flick me off or hate, when I haven't done anything. I love the immeasurable grin it leaves stuck to my face. I love the fact that when I go somewhere, I'm usually eager to go somewhere else so I can take my car. I love the blue and white roundel staring back at me as I drive. I love how it encourages me to take the long way home, then pass my house to just drive a little further. I love that the car is toss-able and is always eager to go. I love the compliments it receives everywhere I go (the people man, or woman, enough to not hate because its a BMW). I love the raw acceleration and the massive amount of torque. I love the manual transmission and how it encourages me to downshift just to feel it's torque. I love my 1er.

I love the closeness it's brought between me any my local dealership's service department. These guys are like brothers now. John, the guy who replaced two of my HPFP's is part of my bowling league and Larry, who replaced my rear tail light LED, my bubbling dashboard, and my squeaky arm rest is coming to my kid's batmitzvah next month. Tomorrow I have an appointment to go fix a plastic ring that just plain fell off the driver's side headlight bulb. It's clattering around inside the headlight itself. I'll have plenty of time to hang out at the dealership tomorrow because, thankfully, there's 3 outstanding recalls on the car right now. I love that. It causes me to slow down a bit, take off from work sometimes, and enjoy life. Plus, I get to explore various underpowered BMW models while the 135i gets fixed, and I end up appreciating the car MORE when I get it back- which is nice.

I kid. Well, not really- I did have all that work done to my car. 6 warranty repairs in total.
BUT... I love my car. It's a rocket. I eat up mustangs in the twisties. Also see my former remarks here in comment #26.

I love everything about my 135i, even the stupid cupholder underneath the armrest, also the fact that i hardly ever see anyone else in one.
In the first year of owning it, the following things have been said to me by others : - Nice car, do you have a girlfriend ? (no) can i get your number :-) - a 1 what? 306bhp...really? !!!! - Is that an M3 ? |
