It's rare I ever post on anything these days.
But I'll go back to my days as a 24 year old. That was 11 years ago, damn does time fly. Back then I was driving a highly modified 2004 STi. I remember the adrenaline rush I'd get "speeding" in that thing until I realized I'd get the same adrenaline rush at the drag strip in the 1/4 mile or going 0-60. I can only imagine this guy in an almost brand new M5. Let's be real for a second, we've all been there, speeding at some point. I also watched the video and saw a tire that was mangled and shredded... Everyone keeps commenting about bald tires... it's mangled in the wreck. You don't know the condition of those tires. Someone died and lost their life. As another member said, there's a mom and dad most likely grieving over the loss of their son. I think that was the point of this post, to recognize that someone lost their life and to be grateful and learn from that event. Don't speed, wear your seat belt, maybe don't go speeding on a damp evening. Thankfully the young passenger didn't lose their life and will be able to walk away from that. RIP and my prayers go out to the young mans family.

They also have speed cameras installed all over the city. At first I was pissed off about this since I got two tickets by my house for going 36 in a 25, but now I sort of don't mind everyone driving more calmly to avoid tickets. Gone are the days where people are driving like maniacs on northern blvd. At least during the week days when these cameras are enabled.

Was bored and watched it again. Will smith gets on hwy and starts to steer the car. At "180" mph lady turns to him; are you crazy humans can't drive at this speed. Jumps on a bike; are you crazy this thing runs on a gas; you know gas is flammable right |

A lot of weirdos on this forum. The fact that people will call a car being totaled a tragedy and in the same breath express that they don't care about the loss of life is very telling. Actually disgusting. Condolences to the family.

First of all condoleances to the family!
Second, a 24 yrs old should not be allowed in a 620hp+ IMO (but maybe he was on his own financially). After i wrecked my M4, i made a prof training and realised how bad i was as a driver (and i was 34, 2 yrs ago) |

condolences to the young lad and his family..
idiotic but nothing equals a life.. on a side note, how would a 24 year old get insurance on an M car? at least here in AUS, you need to be above 30 to be able to get insurance and with some providers its 40 or above. |

Wait really that's a pretty crazy policy, never seen something like that before. Pretty sure in NA age is not restrictive. The car could just be insured/registered to the guy's parents as well or could be his own.

if you crash your car to a solid subject like a tree or a wall at speed of 70, you would stop in 0.04 seconds and sustain an impact force of 100 g. With speed of 85, it would be 120g. It doesn't matter you have seatbelt or airbags or not, none of these G forces are survivable. Two factors: speed, and what you are going to crash to. Trees and poles are the worst. |

I'm sorry to hear about the incident but this scenario is not really unique, it happens more often than what hit the news. Funny enough, it's mostly involves a BMW.. Go figure 🤷🏻 |

I just hate rolling around with him, so what I did is extended seatbelt gong for the passenger, via coding, until it annoys him into submission of strapping up.. Its tragic I have to play mind games to possible spare his life but it's what it is. |

Yea, I'm not saying he couldn't of been a unique case that actually bought it himself but if I had to make an educated guess, based on my personal experience, my money is on that his parents helped him a smidget.. |

In terms of insurance, that is what I was told when shopping around for my M4. I am in my 30s so some providers couldn't offer. |

No worries - as a lifelong American I understood your sarcasm and don't disagree with it either. 2020 is truly a moment of truth for Americans - hope we don't F*ck it up...
