This is the most intriguing comment Flasch make in the video followed up with:

“It means there is something in the back”

It sure sounds like there could be some kind of a lightweight structure replacing the standard bench. It could also be a slight mistake in wording and he mean to say that even if it’s a lightened car it still has rear seat accommodations.

What he says just before that is that the CS remains a true 4-seater, to me it clearly means that there are rear seats and that is what he means by "there is something in the back". Now those could also be lighter than the standard ones...

And so what if it "only" 635 horses and costs? Who cares. Very few can take this car to its limits on a race track, and life is not all about straight line speeds. The weight reduction is what matters more.

FWIW, Auto Bild drove the M5 CS prototype around Lausitzring quicker than a 991.1 GT3, still half a sec slower than M8C, though.

This car got me excited more than the G80.
To be fair, that Autoblog/FastestLap GT3 reference time is elusive an questionable. I doubt an M5cs will be anywhere close to a 991 GT3...
I think it was Auto Bild who did the test. I always take those time tables with a pinch of salt, though - different drivers, conditions, etc. And it was a couple tenths of second only. And the car was a prototype.

Of course, the next generation M5 will be here soon with a significantly different configuration and power – at least if we are to believe the rumors. Nothing about the M5CS is really interesting to me, but as mentioned above the make different models for different people. I will continue to enjoy my M5C.

My guess, for the rear seats, is that it will be something like the 'bread box' that the E34 M5 had. Highly doubt there would be carbon buckets in the rear.

Ok, if he says the “remains” there should be no intrigue. I might have missed that. I believe the standard car is technically a 5 seater since it can carry 5 people legally. So just a slight mistake from Flash if he used remain.

Edit: I went back and listened again. He does not say remain. He kind of emphasizes that this car is a true 4 seater like it’s something new. Now as I said this can be a hint that there is something new in the back not only in the front or it can be a simple mistake and it is just emphasizing that it’s still capable of carrying people in the rear. It’s a tossup IMO what he means.

I did look it up in the Autobild database and could not find it...

He does say "a true 4-seater" and "you can expect something in the rear", so my best guess is that they made a lightweight rear 2-seat arrangement (thinking of M3CRT here). Those 70kg need to come from somewhere. He is definitely teasing us . I am starting to think that maybe I should convince my wife to get an M5cs instead of the RS6 .

Ah, excellent reference there. I forgot the CRT had those. I’m with you, it’s more likely he is hinting/teasing something like this

It's a hint. The current published Nordschleife Production 4 Door Sedan Lap Record holder (7:18.313) used the variant without rear seats.

Do you refer to that controversial/ mainly ignored Jag. Time?
It can’t be that he hints that the CS will beat that time...that sounds a bit too crazy and far fetched.

That's the one (7:18.361; memory failed there). All will be revealed soon

All the clues are there:

Nordschleife Pattern on the headrests

Emphasis on 4 seating positions

Exclusive Individual Höllegrun Matt Paint

Gold Trim Accents

It feels premature but I read this as this is the appropriate response

I though beating the Panny’s time was going to do it, if we now are possibly talking the Jaguar time, it’s a whole other dimension of awe.

ynguldyn called it in November btw: "no middle passenger in the back". But then, he also said "it won't be as extreme as many hoped"...

The embossing on the headrests seems to be something that will age, ie the car at launch will be the fastest sure...but in the coming months it won't be the fastest and if this has a production cycle of a year or two it won't be the fastest while it is still on sale with these embellishments.

Slightly different topic, if they are doing this for the M5 surely they will be doing an M8 CS as well?

The wheels design looks nice 👍🏻! But much prefer an all black satin finish.

My guess is that an M8 CS is likely, though the coupe has no 2021 models. I won't be surprised to see a CSL version for the two door variants of the Ms.
