i saw an american car one time (not sure about the brand) that is typically used as a cop car with a plate that says "NTACOP" or something like that. i think that was funny. coz when i see those type of cars from a distance i would think that theyre cops.

to put "1IO0I1O" as my license plate number? That my friend is an excellent idea, one that i might be doing in the near future. As some of you may know, this WILL be put to good use.. dont think a police could decipher it, but again, they will pull me over for not being able to read it! some cops are just scum like that, but not all..

I already have my plates on order.
My plate will say:

TOURING

I was very pleased when it was approved.
Obviously this has multiple meanings to me, since it's the model , and the means by which I pay for the car.
Hopefully they will be waiting for me when I get home next week.

Hong Kong announced yesterday, first in history, offering 10,000 applications for personalized number plates.
The minimum price is HK$5000 (~USD 650) and once it is approved, you still need to beat for that with others in an auction
The givernmenr expects the 10,000 plates will generate 20 million HK$ income !
So, Personalized , classy or not, depends on the price.

Won't work here. Every personalized plate wordings is to be approved by university language professors and a set of policy will also govern the picking of phases. e.g. cannot have the same structure as the standard number plates.
So I would not think they will approve " 'JKWHFKEWH'

Maybe this is why almost every Corvette I see has a personalized plate.

There was one personalized plate that really got my attention, but probably meaningless to most drivers. There was a car parked in front of a hospital with a plate reading:

P QRS T

Even though I never met the driver, I figure he must have been a cardiologist. Those are letters that represent the waves on an EKG (see photo below).
Now there's an example of "cool."

I had a vanity plate on my first car (GTI) it read GETITON. I watched people as they tried to decipher the plate and it got a few good laughs.

Everyone and there mother in the state of Virginia has a vanity plate.

The E-90 doesn't need a plate to draw more on LQQKERS.

Vanity

re: Vanity thy plate is woman.

Most plates around here are chick plates like "SUZYZCAR" or "LISA RN" though one (male) doc here has "I DELIVR". This is good, because he can still use it if malpractice premiums make him quit OB and start working for Domino's.

Well, most plates I see are pretty lame, and do indicate an indordinate need for attention. I think the plate has to be pretty witty to make it worth it. I like that barcodelike plate idea. BTW, I bet cops in Delaware wish the plates had letters on 'em! I suspect that vanity plates do sort of attract keyers, and police probably enjoy writing tickets out to people with self-indulgent plates.

BTW, I suppose that if you're glorifying someone else, that's somewhat cooler. (LEDZEP). I suppose sometimes tho people get disappointed looks from drivers as they pull up to you hoping to get a look at BRODEUR or Lemieux66. Wouldn't it be silly to have a badge that says 330i and a plate that says e90?

Since I've been tailgated a lot lately, I was thinking that UR2CLOSE would be a nice one, though I'm sure it's taken.

Where's the choice for "Cheesy as hell"?

It doesn't matter what your car is, Chevy Cavalier or Aston Martin, putting on a vanity plate is tacky. Very tacky. Up there with "No Fear" windshield stickers, fake testicles hanging from your tow hitch, mullets, and truckdriver-style baseball caps (foam front, mesh back).

Just say no.
