Audi RS7 (4,407 pounds),
Mercedes-AMG E 63 S (4,581 pounds) Porsche Panamera Turbo (4,662 lbs) 2020 M5 Comp (4370 lbs) 155lbs less with suspension calibration and carbon seats should make for different driving dynamics that you can feel. Just like ppl were saying the F80 CS felt so much better than the past iterations and same thing just repeated itself with the M2 CS. As for the price, Its pretty much on target with the above competitors, ppl complaining about it are not the target audience anyway.

Nice improvement imo.
You M5 crowd are a weird bunch, your wingeing that it only has 626hp & should have 650hp or more Firstly that's like 5% more hp which you are not even going to notice on the road where you can't even use the hp it has now, you might barely notice a slight difference on track but I'd wager 90% or more of you have never been on track in your life. Secondly weight reduction is exactly what this & all modern M cars are crying out for, weight loss is something that affects all aspects of driving & is very noticeable & beneficial. The M5 is basically a big heavy hitting grand tourer that's fast in a straight line, the additions made to the CS are pretty impressive & exactly where they are needed, your getting lighter wheels & brakes which is unsprung weight that is certainly noticable behind the wheel in all areas of driving dynamics, your getting much improved seats in Carbon that will again lose weight & more importantly will improve the driving experience, plus a few other bits & pieces. Should you actually dare to venture out on track to explore what the car (& you) are really capable of these modifications will go a long way to making the M5 much more exploitable & enjoyable, rather than just a boring spotlight drag hero. Honestly you guys are so hung up on numbers & bragging rights that mean absolutely nothing to how a car drives. Be thankful it's lost a few kg & the driving dynamics will be much improved so that you can actually enjoy the driving experience which is what performance cars are about. Wake up & smell the roses people.

No thanks. They should have put R&D into making an M5 wagon instead

The CS idea and the M5 idea somehow dissonate with each other. Are people really buying this big limousine predominantly to go the track? When not, how is the CS any better than the competition in daily live then? Strange car, I would have preferred that M first concentrate on some weight loss of the G80 or announce a real M variant of the 4 gran coupe.

Also performance is much much more than acceleration numbers. Why do you care about hp numbers so much ? They mean bugger all in how a car drives & are primarily for big talking fanboys that have no real life experience of performance cars & driving dynamics on or off track. So your saying 626 hp isn't enough & you need 650 or more ? WHY ? & where exactly are you driving that car 'big daddy' Don Garlits ?

Really? Slower than the e63s and RS6? I don't think so, the CP is already faster, this CS will be the lightest and most powerful of the 3, odd post.

Just because I know this will come up multiple times, the figure is 626hp, 635ps, 467kw. This often confuses people a bit so I thought I'd put in all of the figures

So BMW basically just updated the engine rating on the brochure and did a bunch of part swapping to create some helpful weight loss. Bone stock M5 comps are already showing 615+ whp on dyno runs. So this is a 650-700 hp at the crank motor in the CP. As this car doesn't need more power, it is not that big a deal, but marketing games are being played here. The weight loss stuff is definitely good, as it is the one issue (along with brake cooling), stopping this car from being more than a "one lap wonder" at the track (might be faster than a GT3 for a lap, but the brakes will fade to oblivion in 5 laps). The CP is already an engineering marvel that drives lighter than its curb weight on the street, so 150 lbs off will only make it more capable. I also hope none of these are governed to 162 mph. One of the very best of the last ICE only super-sedans.

It looks like BMW is playing this game of throwing the heaviest base M models first then dropping down the weight which is something BMW knows is getting negative criticism for as they release the Competition models and CS models that fix the weight problems...so that means for you to get a G82 M4 AWD under 4K LB (curb weight) you are going to have to wait until the G82 M4 CS comes out... The marketing team is doing a great job.

I am surprised at the more luxurious statement. I would think this would be more sporty and less comfortable than the M5 Competition.
