No, you aren't crazy.

Your post about adjusting the air in the tires made me think. I'm still running snow tires (don't ask, but the summer tires should be on within a week now), and the psi is higher on snows.

I've really paid attention to this issue, and noticed I did not feel it at all in very, very cold weather this winter -- for example, in the mornings when it was like 10F or so, it was completely gone. Only after the car got quite a bit warmer did it return. Now that you mention it, I wonder if that was because the tire pressure was lower with the low temps? I'll be interested to see if it is still there once I get the summer tires back on, and I may play around with tire pressure.

If you do adjust your psi, remember to tell the car you've done so by resetting the tire pressure monitor, or it might think you have a flat.

Actually the dealer did it for me when they realized my tires were at a near-popping 60PSI per tire. The work order states they set the tire pressure at 35PSI and reset TPM. The ride is noticeably quieter.

I think my e90 does the same thing, except I could feel it at any speed (especially when turning the steering wheel under braking). I first thought it was from flat spots on the tires, but when I swapped wheels with my friend, it didn't go away. I had my SA drove my car around the block but he said it felt normal. He suggested me to leave my car overnight and have the shop foreman take an extensive test drive to determine if this is normal.

I'd have to drive another E9X sport to know what "normal" is - perhaps it's just the way the car feels. The 2006 E90 328i non-sport I had as a loaner did not exhibit this behavior.

Strange . . . I've got over 2K miles on the car now and sort of forgot about this, and I don't notice it any longer - pretty sure it's gone completely. I'm chalking it up to the PSI or the dealer removed a shipping block but wanted to blame the clunk on something besides a poor prep job when the car was redelivered. If it comes back I'll have some idea what to look for.

johnc_22 - I'm sort of in the same boat. Mine still has this very slightly, but I notice it less now with the summer tires than when I had the 17" winter tires on. When I went to get it looked at (still had the winter tires on at the time), the service manager thought I was crazy when I showed it to him, first he said he couldn't feel it, then he said it was normal.

It's so slight that I'm sure nobody else would feel it and any SA would think I was completely insane. With the summer tires on, it is almost imperceptible. At this point, I don't want them replacing my steering column unless it gets worse.

OTOH, I'm glad for pokerface that he got this addressed!

OK so I got the lower steering shaft replaced PN# 32-30-6-784-845 and the steering click is now gone. Steering feels tighter too. Unfortunately they broke my air duct housing in front of the radiator and forgot to put the air hose on aft of the air cleaner! Idiots! Unreal that I caught it after looking under the hood for 10 seconds. Bringing it back tomorrow. Can't believe the tech didn't pick up on that crap. I Honestly think the service department it all talk sometimes. I get better (accurate) service from Suzuki....can you believe that? How the hell do you miss that? what if I had been mechanically retarded? The engine would have sucked unfiltered air for who knows how long!
Just FYI the dealership is Birchwood BMW in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada.
