I think both cars have been designed to target different customers. My preference: M5 now and M8 Gran Coupe later when it becomes available.

I think the result would have been the same with the M5 on snow, and the Aston Martin on dry pavement. On a frozen lake last year I was blown away by the acceleration after launch. On stock tires the M5 made that lake feel like a dry stretch of road.
The M5 is a couple hundred pounds heavier too.

Aston's aren't my 👑 cup of tea.
( no pun intended ) ( except the DB5 Ironically enough - ( with which James Bond had the ejector seat !) Still a kooky looking car but hey it was James Bond ! Full story Seen here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aston_Martin_DB5 ( an oG GT, with somewhat similar specs as an e46 M3 let's say by reading that ... How were the tires tho 🤞🏼 in track like conditions or at an actual track..? Expensive Poop. Better to look at just parked. Resold at auction. 🤙🏽 So maybe 2500 miles a month works great for the car. Remember, during 1963 -1965 they only produced just about 1,000 units and that's for ALL of time forward. Perhaps pause...and Think on that for a moment. No offense intended it's just that I only respect makers who race 🚆and race🚆consistently well over almost all of the pasts array of decades behind us. Now, not watching our mirrors ...⚡️📈 /// Back to why: At one of the private days rented @Willow Springs ( big willow track not streets ) my old e36 race prepped car with inline 6 instantly wore out my bosses Abby new Aston in just a few heated laps. I don't recall what it was but it was the best for that year and it was in around 2009. Instead of being the apex shark that day as he'd imagined it beforehand ... it turned out quite the opposite. After just a few serious laps - He had to surrender and go into the pits just trying to keep up...and subsequently literally melted his brakes (and more) and had to call it a day and call a flatbed by 10:30am ! I wasn't impressed by it even before we got out on track and it only got worse from there on. My e36 ran hard at 10/10ths all day and in the 1:26:xx a lap range. -That impression of them has always stayed in my mind. First impressions and all that. So now I almost pick on them if I see one. Sorry. Good to show off, amazing interiors ? ( watch out for #nightsky 👁🙀 tho 🌋 However if you concretely want to be look at,listened to, ( nice sound ) And generally troll around town for flash and and of course get all those phone numbers then the DB will deliver that goal well and loud But That's it. I classify it alongside Maseratis and Jags And in a group that's commonly and readily passed at will. 🏁 #TUDM M5 as a real useable car all day everyday , track it, get groceries in it, throw kids and a companion in it, race it, win it it, wash it, park it. And drive it 15k ( not kilometers ) a month for less than $2k ( dollars us ) to BMWFS. Good win M5 🚆🏁🏁🏁🔥not surprising at all 👁💪🏽 Ps 🏎 they're remaking it seen here: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.for...inger-db5/amp/

No contest, m5 is a true super sedan. Interesting how many supercars can hold their ground and at least keep up

2500 miles / year can be gone through in a single road trip. Vic55 Why go with this over the AMG GT/GTS/GTC/GTR? Mercedes gives you four options at four price points with performance matching or exceeding the Aston. Would it be just for looks?

How about that M xDrive naysayers!!!
BMW through and through. But I have to say that Aston Martin is putting out the sexiest looking cars right now, strictly exterior design wise. Not including Ferrari and Lamborghini that's Italian and in a class all its own. |

The M5 is freak of physics. But I'd take the Aston. Its a 2-door and looks incredible. I've heard a rumor last month that next year's Vantage will have a manual. If that becomes a reality, then I'd take the Vantage over almost anything in production. I'd have to live like a hermit for the next year to afford one though.

the person that posted that didn't know what they were talking about.
I posted the lease particulars earlier in this thread. You can lease a bare-bones Vantage 177k MSRP (impossible to find most are 195 to 200k) for 5k down 2500 miler per YEAR. If you would like 12k miles per year the lease is over 3k per month

Funny, I love the Aston a lot and I would buy it instead of some BMW's too. Except the M5 and Alpina B6.
Aston is a good looking for sure but the M5 s a proper big sedan with 5 seats and more practical. Not to mention the resale; the Aston will sell as fast as your gym shorts on craigslist... In regards with Aston lease and that ridiculous mileage per year, regardless how much money you have, that will be stupid. |

I just merely broke down the risks in a lease with the Vantage in my earlier post.

Impressive. Even with the Aston sharing a Mercedes Benz AMG engine the M5 still kicks its ass with ur whole family in it. Lol. Good job BMW👍

I'm in the auto parts manufacturing industry myself and I would never buy Aston Martin. The news link didn't go into detail but the the company AM used wasn't even qualified to make automotive parts. No cars are problem free but stick with German made cars or Japan made cars, they are the hardest to qualify to make parts. |

That's what they "advertise". You can EASILY do better than that and if we agreed to manufacturer "deals" we'd all be broke by now. If they advertise $1400 a month at 2.5k miles a year. You can easily get that same number for 5k miles a year playing some hardball. This is nothing new. Take a look here everyone (keep in mind this is from June 2018) https://forum.leasehackr.com/t/aston...under-2k/49625 $250,000 Aston Martins for $1500 with 5k down (or $1700 with 0 down) and some demonstrator miles with 5k miles per year. 5k miles per year is perfect for a car like an Aston Martin. What that guy said about having a DB11 for $1800 is no lie. |

Great, but if you're buying an M5 over a Vantage for straight line speed I don't know what to say to you. Lots of bashing of the Aston here. Aren't they mostly AMG parts, and made in the UK?
