For Sushi Nazis: Official Legit Hardcore SoCal Sushi Directory
please dont be listing chains and buffets and shit like that. only legit places. try to avoid korean-owned sushi places too.
Here's my list as of now: 1. Matsuhisa in Beverly Hills/Hollywood for fusion sushi 129 N La Cienega Blvd, Beverly Hills, CA - (310) 659-9639 2. Sushi Wasabi, tustin (on 5 and newport avenue) omakase style 14460 Newport Ave Tustin, CA 92780 (714) 505-3496 3. ango-tei costa mesa. make sure u try their mixed tataki, oyster shooters, and shrimp/or salmon cholestrols 675 Paularino Ave # 5 Costa Mesa, CA 92626 (714) 557-2696 4. Hapi Sushi in laguna beach. ask for their nigiri's and definitely "japanese burrito" (has nothing to do with a burrito, just a name for the tastiest thing ever) 250 Beach St Laguna Beach, CA 92651 (949) 494-9109 |

Used to live in San Dimas which is 5 minutes away from there. They used to have some very serious health violations going on in their kitchen and dining area. Had to close down one time for awhile.

and btw i wasnt laughing at the place, i was laughing at the "best" portion of your statement. U have to eat in 1000 places in socal to know who's the "best" hahaha Here's what im gonna suggest (in that order) Sushi Wasabi - go on yelp, find it, and view pictures 14460 Newport Ave # E Tustin, CA 92780 (714) 505-3496 Angotei 675 Paularino Ave # 5, Costa Mesa, CA - (714) 557-2696 Hapi Sushi 250 Beach St, Laguna Beach, CA - (949) 494-9109 Ikko (japanese food more than sushi, but good sushi too) 735 Baker St # C Costa Mesa, CA 92626 (714) 556-7822 Suzumaru 17292 Mcfadden Ave Tustin, CA 92780 (714) 665-1300 |

My San Diego perspective: Sushi on the Rock, La Jolla. I have tried at least a dozen of the "best" sushi joints in San Diego and have pretty much stopped going to all of them in favor of SOTR. Thei fish is always the tastiest and freshest. The have the traditional dishes and lots of great "California style" rolls and the like. They also have the best and most creative vegetarian sushi I have ever tried.
My vote in OC goes for Taiko. Much more traditional than SOTR but excellent as well. |

I have not tried that one. I guess primarily because I never considered RB having many good restos. Tell me more as I am open to going anywhere in San Diego for great sushi.

If you know Chef Masa's place in Encino then you know sushi. Sushi Nazi has nothing on him... yes, it is true traditonal and Omakase only at the bar. No pretty sauces or cute flowery thingies but he usually has real Wasabi root for those who ask.
