I think it the same as using the USB cable but phone doesn't slide in the arm rest.

It uses the roof antennae for better cell phone reception.

Plugging in is supposed to extend your range via the car's antenae. There is no hot spot in the M235i, but BMW and others offer it in higher end models, if I'm not mistaken. I was going to get the plug in adaptor, but it doesn't work with many iPhone cases AND I like access to my phone while driving. I opted for this instead:
http://www.proclipusa.com/home.aspx?...oclip%20coupon Very happy with it. This holster holds my phone (with case) at a perfect viewing angle and I can use "WAZE" on my iPhone, which is far superior to iDrive or Google Maps IMO. Plus it frees up additional storage space under the armrest or in the upholders (which is where my phone used to live). I just run a short iOS Lighting cable from under the armrest to the phone and I'm done. I suppose I could try and run a stealthy cable underneath everything, but my wife bums my cable at times, so I'm fine with this. I can quickly tuck my cable out of sight when I arrive. |
