My understanding is that under normal braking one set of brake lights light up. Under heavy braking, a second set of brake lights are activated. In the EU, when ABS is activated, the brake lights are flashed. I had this latter "EU flashing" feature activated on my E92 through coding

I remember than in my e90 335d the warning lights turned on when abs kicked in.

M6 style would have been way cooler

I had it done by BPMSport as a larger coding package.

This is nice to hear I thought this was hard to achieve with non-LED brake lights.

Do they blink (strobe) or does the secondary lamp illuminate?

Some hyundais have a strobe feature (under normal braking) which I think is very useful in the texting-while-driving world (nation?) in which I currently live & drive.

In Europe they do. The coding is changed in the US because of DOT rules. HOWEVER simple coding can change it back. Look up the coding thread.

This video posted by soccer dad shows the braking lights are not flashing, they act just like your quote from the manual

yep...I will be coding that in when I get my car back... There were some cars that were doing the flashing thing though so I'm not sure if in this particular video I didn't ABS it and that's why there is no flashing or what..
