Factory says they are out of mixed summer tires for my June 2014 allocation
..and they can only offer the all season tire setup.
CA called and asked if that was ok and I expressed that I ordered mixed summer tires but I wouldn't hold up the order for it and was there anything BMW NA or the dealer could do...? I was intending to use the stock set as my summers and get a winter setup as needed. In this case, I would use the stock set as my winter setup and get a summer set potentially. |

ouch, that sucks! I have one planned to be built in week 26 and I'd be pissed if I need to settle on the crappy RFTs.
Did they give more details? Like what kind of delays are they thinking? I would not go as far as cancelling my order but I wouldn't let it go easily. |

it seems the factory changed that a couple months ago...
http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=995402 <-- thread in the tire forum people got $350 credit for the HK system if they ordered while the site was wrong but I dont know if they are making good on the tire mixup? you can still order the PSS when building online but they do the switcharoo on you. |

i agree - even after seeing so many diff dealers and people having this same issue.
i dont know if a change was made in the system that created confusion or made it harder to order... or possibly they get some incentive for getting people to pick the RFT.... something is going on for sure though. to have people walk away from the sale because of this, and the dealer still wont budge? can it really be that hard for them to make this happen? lol |

This seems to be a little worse than just not getting the tires you want.
Doesn't getting the run-flats also force you to get the reduced top-speed limiter? |

I asked my CA if he could work something like a discount if I bought a summer setup from BMW and he said no promises but he would see what he could do. Ugh! |

I call BS
You pay $44 base msrp for all standard options...if they dont have it than give you a discount or get what you're suppose to have, nothing more nothing less

I may have the same issue, my CA screw up on the ED order (ext color and int color) and he last minute put in an order for my next week ED. now the car comes with All season tires.. I think the order system could have limited the summer tires now at the end of 2014 production.

At this point, it looks like there are 2 possible issues: - (more likely): same old issue where orders were incorrectly put with the RFTs and they are unable to change...or just confused. - there is something going on where, for some reasons, the manufacture is running out of the Michelin PSS or they have decided to stop building cars with this option. On my side, I'm clear for reason #1. My CA did the right thing and never selected any tires on my order so I should get the staggered mixed summer PSS. Reason #2 is what worries me though but there is nothing confirmed/denied yet. |

Update: I have learned from another thread that the issue may be with the ordering process and not a tire stock-out issue. See link to thread below:
http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=995402 I also learned from that thread that the order codes are as below: [2PG]- these are the PSS that are advertised as default or standard. otherwise it probably shows: [2TR] optional - all seasons [258] optional - runflats My question is whether there are two variants of the all season option i.e. why the 2 codes [2TR] and [258]?? |

There are not 2 variants, the 258 is just to code the car as having run-flats. Maybe different alerts when you get a low pressure warning, etc... Some codes are purely for settings software options.

Factory out of tires? I don't buy it.
Especially since these tires are made not too far in France and BMW factory production is not some novice operation where they would be caught off guard like that. this sounds to me like a cop out story of a dealer that does not want to admit (or realize) they made a mistake. |

So I just put in an order for a 2015 because my CA said that there were no more 2014 allocations for them. I notice on the order he emailed me that it had all season tires and I told him I did not want that... it seems as though he was confused because he replied back saying that "mixed summer tires" are also known as all-season tires...
I think it's definitely a lack of knowledge from the CA to make them think that because there is no option to choose summer tires, they automatically assume that all seasons are the only options when the standard option are "mixed summer tires". |

Dealer did this to me too. Sales person said this is how they all come when I caught it on the online tracker. Went in to see if it could be resolved and the guy started yelling at me saying it was my mistake and not his. The manager offered to reorder another one correct, I hope they get it right this time. Those tires and wheels really are a deal breaker, especially when coughing up 50k....
