Mods under Warranty?
I'm getting an '07 328i soon and I want to keep the warranty valid but I do want to do at least two things. I'd like to get some suspension upgrades like some H&R Sport Springs and Sway Bars and an Intake. Are there any intakes that won't void the warranty like maybe someone they use as OEM's like DINAN, AC Schnitzer or Alpina? Would suspension and wheels void the warranty? How strict are they on these minor things?

Putting in aftermarket suspension will void your suspension warranty. Meaning that they won't replace your shocks and springs for you if something should go wrong.
As far as an intake go, it's a pretty minor mod..shouldn't have any effect since it's not even a cold air intake where there's a chance of hydrolocking the car. |

Like i said to everyone else, you gotta pay to play. Dinan is not joined with BMW anymore so you do not retain your BMW warranty although im sure Dinan has there own warranty.
Its true that whatever you mod, you lose warranty on (i.e. coilovers make you loose your warranty on springs, shocks, etc). But even small things that seem minor might give you troubles at the dealership. My friend had a gruppe m intake in his e46. When he took it in to get serviced, they would not touch his car. They told him either to remove it and come back, or go to another dealership. Of course this is dealership dependent, but its still a hassle. Obviously you can probably fight these cases and win, but its up to you if its worth the hassle. |

If you go with a company like KW where you get a lifetime warranty you can at least have some piece of mind
