New oil change- put in 7qt, OBC said level is OK. Later said low oil
2006 330i. Just did an oil change. New filter and pour in 7qt. Took it for a short drive, oil level is in the middle and said "OK". Check again after getting back home. Again oil level is in the middle and said "OK". Took another trip somewhere, now it said to check oil level. Oil level is now low and said to add 1+qt. Oil level sensor gone bad? But seem odd to failed right after an oil change.

Ok please don't laugh. I'm such an idiot. Apparently, the big jug of Rotella T6 I used is only 4qt, while the big jugs from other brands are 5qt. So really I only added 6qt. No wonder the T6 jug felt a little lighter than the M1 jug.
Gonna go get another quart. |

It's an honest mistake. I'm just glad I caught the mistake before ordering parts to change the sensor. I wonder how many others made the same mistake I did. I mean why did Shell use a 4qt jug while everyone use a 5qt jug?
