BMW Value Service

Just found out about this service.

Has anyone tried it?

http://valueservicebmw.com/#

I get a wide price range from dealer to dealer on replacing front break pads and sensors from $180-$350 in my area. The $180 is at least 20% lower than even independent shops in my area. Just curious to know if there are any catch in these services offered by the dealers.

Got the letter in the mail because my service just ran out.
I'll do oil changes, but breaks and other not critical stuff I can do myself.
I can do brakes at home in my driveway, while drinking a beer and saving hundreds.

It's their best fight against indy BMW shops. Basically it means your used BMW has cheaper standard maintenance, but actual non-wear item repairs are really expensive.

They try to price themselves lower than indy's because, well, they can. They got called out for overly expensive simple maintenance, and they're trying to win their customers back.

"THE END OF FREE IS NOT THE BEGINNING OF EXPENSIVE"

It's like "Hey guys, okay we kinda upcharged the shit out of you for really simple maintenance items that can be done by any good mechanic, and you called us out on it. Cat's out of the bag."

Did the oil change last month. Normally I do it myself but I don't have all my tools with me. Not really any catch to it except its not that quick if your service department is busy (waiting for the SA, getting checked in, waiting for loaner car, etc).

If you have the time and the dealer is not too far from you, it's not a bad deal if you don't want to do it yourself. Oil change, free car wash, free loaner for a day.

I've brought my car over to my local BMW dealership for the $79.99+taxes Value Service Oil Change a couple of times. My SA said he would've charged me $109.99+taxes if I didn't mention and bring in the printout of the value service promotion.

There shouldn't be any catch in the services offered by the dealership. Make sure you read what you're signing and request a copy of the paperwork. Ask your SA if you have questions about the Value Services such as if they use genuine BMW brake pads or generic pads in the promotion?

Of course there is a catch. $299 brakes sounds ok (if $99 for parts and $200 labor is ok), but then they will tell you that you need rotors. BAM, bend over, raped, what just happened?!

If no codes are being thrown use Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner (concentrate). It solves rpm fluctuating upon cold start-up. Also, for most BMW problems start off by scanning your car with the Peake Research Tool. It contains the actual BMW codes. If you want to register a newly installed battery for free (just buy a $10 cable) and google/download BMWLogger
