Installed two 12's in trunk

If you do not nee alot of trunk space, adding a sun box is a god way to add bass. I installed two Kicker 12s (probably overkill, but already had the box, plus a Kicker 1200 watt amp. Really adds the ooomph that is missing.

Do you have stock system or HK?
How did you tie into existing system?

Thanks! What terminals/wires did you tap into? Are there subwoofer outputs on the amp or did you simply tap into existing speaker wires? If you tapped into existing speaker wires how did you know that you tapped into the correct wires which go to the existing subwoofers?

I do not know what the installer used. The box itself is easy to remove so I can get full trunk space as needed. I am used to small trunks from my last few cars, all convertibles. Plus I have a Cayenne at home when needed.

Nice, I was thinking of doing a simple 10" JBL and try to retain as much space as possible. Really miss the bass coming from my Audi which had a 12" sub and amp in the trunk.

May try calling these guys.

I'm not ready for this yet but I believe these chaps can build something. Especially if enough folks request it. Seems like it leaves a good bit of usable trunk space.

Focal makes a 8'' sub that replaces directly. It's coming out these few months, for those who don't want to make any drastic change.

Couple of questions for the OP:
- Do you have the HK system or standard?
- If HK then how did you tap into the system?

I have the HK sound system and I will be looking to add a 10" sub as soon as I can figure out how to make it all work.

Do you have the HK system or standard? HK

If HK then how did you tap into the system? I presume that attached to the rear speakers and used a line output converter:

If your receiver does not have preamp outputs, many amplifiers feature speaker-level inputs, which have built-in converters which step the speaker-level signal down to a preamp-level signal acceptable to the amp.

You can access the speaker-level signal by stripping a small section of your vehicle's right and left speaker wires, and splicing in wires that lead to your amp (similar to splicing into your receiver's turn on wire — see the Amplifier Installation Guide). Note: Tapping into speaker wires in this manner does not affect the performance of your speakers.

If your amp doesn't have speaker-level inputs, an effective and inexpensive line output converter will help you step the speaker-level signal down to preamp level. Then run an RCA patch cord from the converter to the amplifier. Make sure the patch cords supplying the musical signal to the amplifier are kept well away from potential sources of noise, such as brake light wires or rear window defroster wires.
