I must say that I was seriously blown away after the test drive with the V6. Amazing car, amazing sound, design is fabulous. The things that put me off were poor interior quality, the fact that the (V6) engine is in fact a PSA (Peugeot, Citroen) unit and not one developed by Jaguar. Other than that, I think the F-Type is one of the most sexy cars currently on the market in this price range. Oh, besides the Ghibli, but there, the GM bits really put me off.

I agree, it was very tempting, but eventually the M3 won me over, also due to financial aspects (got a very good price for the Z4). Apart from this, the Ghibli was a very strong contender...

I have a Ghibli S Q4 which I am trading in for an M4 after just 2500 miles. Good car. Fabulous sounds. Certainly gets a lot of attention. But its a sheep in wolf's clothing. In a way its embarrassing to have all that bang, bang, bang when you shift, but the car doesn't respond. Just too heavy...and you don't really feel confident at high speeds. The car has quick steering response and is a lot of fun on curvy roads as long as you keep the tach pegged above 4000. Its pretty much a 550 or a 640i competitor. Also the awd system is very slow to respond...when you take a 90 degree turn the wheels skip around at ridiculously low speeds.
BTW, I drove that Jag. Beautiful car. fun to drive. Nowhere near as fast as my 2010 M5...and no room for a set of golf clubs. So the author was right. Unless you can live with a two seater, the decision is made for you!

I love the F type, but my 435i xDrive 8 AT w/MPPK makes for a better comparison in terms of performance at a $30,000 savings here in Canada. I'm not particularly impressed with the F80/F82 so far.

I wonder if CH will be as complementary about the F8x as he is about the F-type. To me an interesting note was his comment about the 911 being vulnerable right now with the 991 model, ouch!
