FYI on stock rim pricing

Might need to replace my front right rim, MSRP is $489.66. Will have Sun order it up for me if need be.

Got a huge bubble in the tire, fingers crossed on the rim but who knows. I think Sun will do the rim shipped for around $400 so it's not as bad as I feared. $600 per corner (wheel and tire) means you need to destroy 4 before the tire insurance starts to pay for itself. It's still holding air and it's been 5 days, so the seal is fine which I hope means the rim might be ok.

That tire blister does not seem too bad. The tire is done but I would doubt the wheel was damaged.

They do, plus shipping. That was just a verbal quote I got over the phone.

Is tire/wheel insurance really $2400? Is it dealer offered, or a BMW insurance?

I think my dealer quoted me $1800 or thereabouts, my math was based on the fact that you can replace 3 wheels & tires for even money and you've gotta do 4 or more before you're better off with insurance.

I was just making calls to see if anyone offered the regular "Road Hazard Coverage" for new car tires. Companies that used to offer it for new cars like Tire Kingdom and Tires Plus no longer provide coverage. Those usually only cost $25-30 per tire....the dealer prices are just crazy.

Tire rack will for tires, not wheels, at $20 per. I got my new tire from there and will be doing the same for my winter setup. Basically at that point I've got all but my summer rears, so 6/8, covered for $100, not horrible.

You can get by driving it at normal speeds for a while. I put 1000 miles on tire that had three of those size bubbles before . The longer you do drive with it the more chance you can damage the rim with the spot with the bubble now being a weak spot in the tire and will give more.

Go to know that Sun Motors can hook us up for a full set of factory wheels for $1600 or less. If you get another bubble incident in a different wheel you might want to bite the bullet and go non-runflats all the way around.

I'm out of town for a few weeks left it with dad he's dealing with it That's not a run flat, it's a PSS, so I'm a little afraid to mess around too much. Worst case I can always borrow the spare from the 330 convertible and get it down to the dealer if need be. Hopefully there's no rim damage will know Fri.

They can repair most damaged rims for about $125. Had several done and they look brand new.

Thanks for the heads up, my dealer told me the same and their wheel guy comes in on Mondays. Wanted to do some research and figure out pricing, best source etc. just in case. Plan is tire shop Friday and be done if wheel isn't bent, dealer Monday to see if wheel can be fixed if it is bent, then order rim from Sun and have shipped to dealer for install on following Friday if it can't be fixed. All in order of increasing cost and hassle, obvs.
