e46 Sedan Black ~ What mods?

Hey Guys,

My sister drives a 2004 Black e46 Sedan... and it's bone stock.
I'm looking to get her something for Christmas, and am open to suggestions.

I know a few of you guys have e46's on this forum, so any suggestions?
I'm not looking to spend too much. Maybe some light cosmetic modifications.

I was thinking of the OEM LED taillights that the newer e46coupes have...
Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm not familiar with the e46-mod market... so ideas would be great!

E46fanatics.com ?

What's exactly is your budget? Is it manual? If so...maybe a nice shift knob.

Good thing you brought this up.
I'm NOT looking to get any performance upgrades/mods. I'm looking strictly for cosmetic mods. It's an automatic.
Budget, approx. $250?

Intake? Aluminum trim? M3 lip spoiler? As far as I know, they do not have OEM LED tails for sedans. They have aftermarket but none of them match the same pattern as the OEM sedan lights. I'd stay away from LED if your going to get her clears.

thank orient... that helps a lot and saved a ton of trouble.
just like my e90, i'm looking to go the FULL OEM route. Nothing aftermarket (except for my eisenmann of course ).
anyway, i'm looking for OEM exterior cosmetic modifications for my sister's e46. Are there blacklines for an e46?

I'm not looking to get performance mods, or trim work. something simple~ direct bolt on mods...

There are smoked lights, yes. Not OEM though.

Yo...I had a black 04 E46 sedan before my current E90.

These are the best mods I could think of within the $250 budget:

- clear corners
- blackout front grill
- black (or carbon fiber) emblem replacements
- smoked led tails (ebay)....might go over budget with these
- angel eyes (only if you're up for the install)
- tint is always nice for any car
- m3 trunk lip spoiler
- Ipod integration kit

How is the quality of these non-OEM smoked taillights? I saw them on ebay, and they're very attractive... but i don't readily trust the quality of non-oem components.

The fit is close enough to OEM that you won't notice, but still, doesn't fit like the OEM tails. I would say that the quality is close to the same. I had smoked tails on mine, but didn't have the led one's.

Another thing to make sure of is that you get her the proper tail lights. Her sedan is a facelift sedan, which has a different tail light connector than the prefacelift sedans.

Here is a pic of the tails I had:

Thanks 3onDubs... I'm not sure if her e46 is a facelift. Upon reviewing the paperwork, it's actually a 2004 325xi. So what should i look for when looking for these components?

She's not a huge shoe fanatic... then you might infer that she might want a bag, but i already got her a YSL Muse bag that set my wallet back by an amount i could've clearly bought new wheels.

Yeah, it's a facelift...."facelift" refers to 2002+ models

Ah, if she's not a shoe fanatic but you got her a YSL bag, she'll need a dress that she will never wear to match that bag.

Could get her a pair of headlight eyelids. They are after market however, and a much bigger enhancement on pre-facelift e46's.

Hey man,
i know many people LOVE eyelids on their car, but i can't stand them. I guess this is one of those things that truely depends on the person. Eyelids for me, no go...

I think i'll be going the smoked taillights route. She likes when her car looks bone-stock~ but with subtle differences. that's my preference, and it's evident in my modifications.

Thanks for the help guys. If you have any more suggestions, throw them at me. I'm just a bit lazy to go on the e46fanatics or other forums because i'll get a bombardment of suggestions. thus, i'm asking you e90 owners, hoping that you've seen or owned e46's!
