e93 M3 Roof - dented and scratched from owners manual

2009 M3 convertible. I can't believe I did this -- I put the owners manual in the trunk on the far left / drivers side when I was cleaning the car. Forgot about it. Right where it has the sticker saying "don't put anything here".

I am pretty sure it's been there for 6 days, driven 3 or 4 of those days to work. Put the top up and down about 10-15 times. Noticed it was making a clunk over bumps today. Put the top up and d#*$&# if I don't have the following, all on DRIVERS SIDE, where the manual was:

1) slight dent and paint missing right over drivers head.
2) 3 small paint chips on drivers rear "c" pillar. One with shallow dent.

Check this out.

Can barely see the dent in this ... right in middle of pic in the reflection

The one on the left is the same one as the small dent in the prior pic

I thought I had something unique to my car, I stopped by BMW dealer yesterday in ATL and their guy said "yep, we see this alot" and he showed me another e93 on the lot with the same issue. He said that the PDR guy will _not_ do dents on the convertible top, I have no idea why, but when I pressed, he said "no PDR on convertible top".

Anyone else had this? I searched and couldn't find anyone with this same dent pattern. Given that the dealer was well-familiar, hoping someone has advice.

Thanks

That's so bizarre- if there is anything in that area whatsoever my hardtop sensors won't even let the top go down.

I wonder what the hell happened there

That's odd I would've thought that the sensors might have recognized something was there and therefore would not let the roof become activated. The only thing I can think of is maybe your car has the smart top in which case it could affect the way the top is programmed to open/closed?
