Coolant Leak. But from where?
So I bought a used 2008 335i Sedan. I bought it with 69k miles. I bought it with an oil leak. After a month of having it. I Took it to some guys to fix it. They told me it was the oil filter gasket housing. They fixed it by replacing the seal in between the two halves. Not sure. But as I was driving home, I got a low coolant light. At this point I am like flipping out because I had already been to the mechanic 3 times for the oil leak and now my coolant is low. So I topped off my coolant reservoir thinking everything was gonna be smooth sailing from there. Drove to the bank and on my way back, the low coolant light came on again. My heart dropped. I let the engine cool at home and I checked the reservoir. The thing was completely empty. I could see the bottom. I topped off the thing and it was completely empty from just a drive to the bank. I checked the ground for any signs of leaks but I don't see any. It only leaks when I run the car. I cannot find the source of the leak. I was thinking maybe the guys that fixed my oil filter gasket housing did something to a coolant line or something. I don't know for sure. So if you guys could give me some tips on where to check for a leak it would help. Thanks.

Its probably pooling on your underliner tray. Maybe take it off and check for leaks after?

Or socket wrenches.
Ramps, jack & jack stands, even on flat ground, you can reach under and remove the bolts holding the pan on.

You have a similar problem to what I had a couple of months back.
The dealer tells me there's some sort of a relief valve and we suspect the previous dealer overfilled the coolant during the very cold weather we've had, and when it got warm it burped up a few times. |

N54 oil gasket change. They are suppose to drain and refresh the coolant and oil . Then they are suppose to run the purge procedure when refilling the coolant. There are coolant passageways going through the filter area if they botched the job on the gasket you could have coolant mixing with oil. |

Who are "some guys"? Friends? Or a reputable shop?
Because it sounds like they may have made things worse.
