Pre Purchase advice needed

2011 E91 328i
29000 miles
Perfect condition, with warranty, with verifiable service history, one owner.

KBB excellent is 26,800. Asking price is 27,999. What's a fair offer? Any reason to believe I should pay over KBB excellent? This is the lowest priced offering on autotrader within 100 mile radius.

Some sellers high ball their asking just so they have some haggle room without taking much of an actual hit. I would low ball him, offer 26k, and go from there.. Or if you're feeling spunky, 25k... What's the worst he can say? No?

Go with 25k it is not an unreasonable low offer.
He might reply by saying 26k which the price you actually want that car for

This all depends on how you're paying. E91s are unicorns...almost, and they command high prices because of the rarity, and the people who want them specifically. Simple supply and demand, really.

Is this a private seller? Are you buying with cash (or cashier's check)? If you are, I would say offer even lower...at $24k, which is not insulting, IMO. They should expect a bit of haggling before the sale is final. The idea is that you two meet somewhere in the middle.

If it's a dealership, and you're offering cash, it may not go as well. Dealerships make money on financing, but the right down payment/finance ratio will get you pretty far.

I think if you can close the deal at around $25.5-26k, you'll be in good shape. Without knowing the full list of options, it's hard to pinpoint the price.
