Greetings all. I picked up an 07 E90 335i with 65k miles in great shape. It has the Sport, Premium and Cold weather pkg plus Nav and the Autobox. It's build date was October 06 and I see no obvious evidence of an oil cooler. I saw indications of the manual having it but did the autos come later? Also, I am 1500 indicated miles from front brake replacement....I have been quoted 495 bux for OE pads and rotors...question is should I go there or look aftermarket? My wife has an 11 X5 with the N55....this N54 feels beastly in comparison....weight surely a factor also. Anyway, thx for feedback!

Oil coolers were included on the later e90s but you can check whether you have one by looking in the front passenger wheel well where it is.

$495 for OEM pads and rotors is not bad if that quote is from the dealer. If you were to buy the parts and DIY it would cost about $400 to do it all-OEM.

Thanks for the feedback. I assume I don't have the oil cooler then, all I see is a port for air flow from the front fascia, no cooler mounted up in front of the wheel.
The 495 quote is from a local Indy shop specializing in German cars...we'll regarded in central Ky.

In that case I would say go for it, that's a good price.

Congrats on picking up a N54! No oil cooler on the 07' E90's unfortunately and that sounds like a great deal on the brakes. Dealers charge around $700.
If you think your N54 feels quick now add a tune and a DCI. The tune alone will give you a huge hp/tq gain, especially if you add a few gallons of E85 and the DCI will add a nice sound that you don't get with the factory air box.

Easy way to see if you have an oil cooler is to look at the frontof your oil filter housing....if you have two hoses going into the front of it from the passenger side...those see your cooler lines. I don't have one either. Wish I did but I don't run hot. It gets a little hot on the track but you learn to deal with it. Not an issue if your daily driving and don't floor it every time you got the gas.

Actually I picked up an 07 e90 335i the other day as well and mine is equipped with the oil cooler. Apparently, all 335i's with the sport package came with the oil cooler after the build date 03/07. Mine was built in late April of 2007 and because mine has the sport package it also has the oil cooler.
All manual transmission 335i's came with the oil cooler. Only ones that did NOT feature the oil cooler where the models built before 03/07 and most xi's. I'm not sure when the non-sport I's began carrying the oil cooler as OEM equipment. The Xi's come with the oil cooler if the 18" wheels were added too - but not if its only got the sport package.
As for the tune and other mods I would be very cautious. It's beyond me why all 335i's weren't equipped with the oil cooler; its an essential item if you are going to mod the car and push it around.

My assumption is that BMW tried to guess which customers would be pushing their 335i's to the limit. They obviously came up with all manual drivers, enthusiasts with the sport package, or xi's with upgraded sportier 18" wheels. This attempt obviously failed as all later model 335i's (and all e60 535i's) came equipped with the oil cooler. There must have been reliability issues without oil coolers, otherwise BMW would have avoided the additional expense of adding oil coolers on all later n54s.

I also picked up a Montego Blue '07 E90 335i, 6speed, Jan 07 build... I believe it is fully loaded with CA/Sport pkge/CWP/Nav.. and oil cooler.. It did need a new battery and have to replace the VANOS solenoids, but will inspect them first, might be dirty?
