Do you need to remove the bumper for the install of the blad kidneys?

no you will not. its pretty basic snap in. but you will have to remove the top screws on the bumper. you can refer to the f30 guide here.

you don't have to remove the bumper. i have small hands so i was able to reach through the slats and press on the clips. it's tough for the first grill but once that's out, you can use that new hole to reach around and unclip the second grill.

after they're both removed, the new grills just snap in. just press around the edges to make sure they're secure. did this in less than 10 minutes on my F32 - no tools needed.

only thing i'm concerned with pliers is that you might just break the tab cause you don't know how much pressure you're putting on it.

Guys on the M135 forum had luck just bending a spoon. I got these from Amazon for $5 the pliers look like they may get wide too soon to reach all the way back. Worth a shot if you already have them though.
