Where's DINAN

My Dealer had a pretty good selection of Dinan products that could add significant performance to the E46 M3 without voiding the warranty.

Does anyone know when DINAN will offer mods for the E92 M3

I'd say a good year or 2 after it lands in the U.S. for a full assortment of their product line, i mean they just released their new 335i reflash so that took some time

I'd echo that..probably a couple of years. When I bought my 540i back in '99 it took a little more than 2 years until products started rolling out. Too long..

2 years is a long time, but like they say, good things come to those who wait.

I think that the key aspect for me is that the mods are done by the dealer and the warranty remains in effect. I would argue that the delay is partly driven by extensive reliability testing. Something most other mod companies don;t do.

I called Dinan myself, said they would have things by June of 2008!! But Racing Dynamic, Breyton, Remus already have a few things out.

I would be careful with Dinan for a few reasons:

1. The gains they state are often way exaggerated.
2. The BMW warranty is infact voided. You are then under the Dinan warranty for said installed Dinan part at a Dinan service center. This can be found in the Dinan warranty information.
3. I wouldn't put all your eggs in the "reliability testing" basket. They are, afterall, the same manufacturer that was too short sighted to put an intercooler on their Stage I S/C for the e46 M3 - which was never well adopted due to the fact of overheating potential being through the roof.

I would wait until some of the aftermarket parts are "guinea-pigged" around and proven to show results, but that is just me.

Take care,

Patrick

Dinan has an ECU upgrade for the M5/M6 that was released boasting 628hp and 400+tq. Would be nice if they can boast the same gains for the M3 up 25%....
I would always go with the dealer install (even though it's at a price). As long as the dealer does it, the warranty is still good. Even if it is a Dinan matched warranty. I mean, where else do you bring your car when it has a problem? The dealership!

I think the ECU upgrade you are talking about is actually a displacement change to 5.7L. I would bet the Dinan offeres the same displacement "upgrade" to the m3 as they offered to the m6 and m5. It seems that dinan created this mod because it would be applicable to the s65 engine as well.

I would expect the same sort of upgrades for the m3 as they have for the m6 and m5.

I am still waiting for someone to develop a small turbine engine that can be installed in the trunk!

Capacity increase, mmmmm?? That must be really really expensive if it is the case!!!!!! Maybe it’s a turbo or S/C? Don´t see how an ECU can get you 25% increase in hp!!! Unless of course it is exaggerated!!!
