Duramax is a great engine, capable of big power with just a tune... It cracks me up to read the comments after the article, People are ridiculous

My older brother has a Silverado 2500HD with the Duramax/Allison (LLY/A6) drivetrain. The current Duramax is coded as the LML. There really aren't many differences between the two engines. They both use the same cast iron block (403 ci) with identical bores and strokes and they both use aluminum heads. The biggest differences are the fuel rail pressure (30000 psi vs 23000 psi) and the inclusion of VVT on the LML. The rail pressure and VVT are significant improvements and the output figures reflect that.

But, what isn't talked about is the EGT. My bro installed the Bully Dog kit and it works great until he gets to really whomping on it and then his EGT's go through the roof and warps his cylinder heads. This has happened to him once already and if you look at the Duramax forums, it's not a rare issue. It's the Achilles heel of that engine.
