Upgraded low pressure n upgraded high pressure fuel pumps

Hi seniors, just checking anyone has upgraded their low pressure and high pressure fuel pump yet ? Not going into methanol or e85 yet but likely to upgrade turbo in near future ...

Read about walbro 255 but could anyone guide me on the part number ?

Any links or good recommendation of the high pressure fuel pumps ?

If e85 pumps is not ready in a certain country, how do you resolve this issue ?

Pls guide a newbie ...

I have Cobb ap v3 and full bolt ons but need more poisons...

I guess I don't quite understand what you're trying to do- are you trying to replace your fuel pump with a different non-OEM high-pressure one? Or...

Why do you want to upgrade them?

Get a bigger turbo first and THEN you can think about a fuel pump!

No need to change it now because the small turbo is your biggest problem at this point!

First of all the walbro pump is just to replace or help the stock LPFP, I don't know of any upgraded HPFP out there.
Second, unless you are upgrading the turbo AND going E85 you do not need the upgraded LPFP.
If you really want to add a fuel pump then its probably easiest to do an inline pump to help out the stock one.

How do the 55s do in terms of fueling? I can’t say I’ve spent much time looking into that motor when you start to push it.

I just did protuned and at 652 max torque I suspect my fuel pump is not sufficient. Ie. to say at certain rpm ie 2-3.5 k it is like choking. If lucky I get away with it. If not it knocks n give me a half engine check line with numerous trembles.

That's y I like guidance if to upgrade the low fuel pump at this stage? Or senior feel it is sufficient ?

Which means I have to down tune

Hi senior, how do I do that or when can I find information or link on that?

I am guessing that is nm of torque? That is only 480ft/lb so it is no big deal. You will also be pushing the fuel pump the hardest at high RPM, not 2k-3.5k RPM.

Ok thanks senior for the guide ...

Guess I will not require low or fuel pump upgrades at this stage.

So it must be the tuner which must have did something wrong then.

Depends, the hit on spool is pretty gnarly (at least on the 54). I’ve seen the high pressure side drop below 1K PSI on spool. Not that it gets better up top, but IMO its’ on spool where you really need to watch it.

That has more to do with how fast it can react to demand instead of ultimate flow rating. You flow the most fuel at higher RPM normally (unless you run leaner or artificially cut boost at higher RPM).

N55 has better fueling than N54 but if you really want to upgrade the lpfp here is a link. It is for N54 but is still applicable.

Stock turbo and fuel pumps I had no problem running E50.
There are some logs here.

I am getting the vargas turbo and a walbro 465 lpfp installed right now and will see how I go tuning with more e85.

Any chance you'll have dyno results with 93? Also, what are you doing for tune? My local pro tuner said i would need a JB4 in addition to the Cobb AP for a turbo upgrade.

Your local tuner is incorrect. Cobb can handle an upgraded turbo setup just fine.

I have been using Pro Tuning Freaks, hopefully they can get it working well in a timely manner. If not there might be someone local who can dyno tune.

Might dyno with normal fuel depending how much time and patience I have with tuning. Priority will be the ethanol tune though.

Agreed about the small turbo.
Do you know of any Stage 1 upgrades available (E90, 320d)

You're going to have better luck asking in diesel groups.
